I like this take on Mirage and it looks very similar to the view I take on her in my twisted fic project. Hope you don't mind if I keep a copy of this for reference material.

A well-considered, thoughtful introspection. I've read a number of fanfics where Mirage just sort of disappears into society, but I don't really think she could just dismiss the past and start over. She's too smart for that, for one, and I agree with you that once she started thinking about consequences and circumstances and her role in the whole, stinking mess, it would shake her to her core.
