The ending gave me such chills.

This is so lovely in so many ways, as you know because I'm talking to you about it right this very second on chat. The imagery and descriptions you use here are so beautiful. A lot of times authors try to do a similar thing and it comes out contrived or cheezy but you totally know what you're doing.

My favorite bits- "Two people, so lonely, so alone, dead inside for as long as they could remember were suddenly alive again. All defences dropped. Thinking, feeling, being."

"And theirs was a victory. A victory surrounded by one hundred losses but a victory none the less. They had done the impossible."

"Love blooming out of a sea of hate. The tide was still closing in on them but for the moment the waters were calm."

And of course, you ended it with angst, which in my book made it perfect. ;)

Sorry I haven't reviewed sooner. I haven't been around. I've been away in London causing havoc somewhere else for a change.

I loved this. It was very touching and that last line was perfect - really haunting. Very well written.

What excellent attention to detail, the scattered clothes, the scattered army, the frightened people, to name but a few ideas. I particularly liked the hint that the people would now find Fiyero as frightening as Elphaba in his way.

And then the couple's last, loving night together... heartbreaking.

I'll be searching for your other "Wicked" fics now.

Your story started with "The sun set on a city in chaos" and you thought it wouldn't be good enough? That's laughable! This was excellent! :)

Fantastic job. Probably one of the best ALAYM one-shots I've ever read. The style you used, with all the emotions and excellent beginning and end, was phenomenal.
