Dishonest. Everyone protecting Sasuke is paid to do so. And it is the literal business and duty of allied mercenaries like these ninja to protect each other. No gratitude beyond reciprocation should be necessary. And none of this is a reason to forget about the chuunin selection. I just wish you'd written Sasuke as smart enough to realize this.

Shikamaru trusting Temari to keep her word and not kill him when he lets her go of the kagemane was a severe tactical... what's the word for a choice that results in success despite everything at the time of decision indicating it's the wrong thing to do?

What can I say but 'wow'. Please continue this story, it's got a great plot with plenty of worthy subplots and beautifully developed characters. Including the non-human ones. It deserves to be finished. It's magnificent.
