This is one of the most carefully planned and paced fics I have ever read. It built and built right until the very end, Sebastian slowly becoming more and more like the character we know from the manga/show as each event pushed him to stoop to new levels to stay alive and keep his sanity. It was a slow build, and it took me some time to become invested, but in the end I am very glad I stayed with this piece because I found it brilliant. Scary, horrifying, dark. The suspense escalated considerably in the final third of the story, as things started to both fall into place and fall apart.

You did a phenomenal job with your characters throughout, especially with Ciel. Sebastian grew from a sort of average man into far more than that as we went along, which I think is the true beauty if this story. Their unusual relationship was refreshing; even though it wasn't very gratuitous, it was believable and starkly real.

Wonderful writing as well, you have such a vocabulary and there was a lot of use of different turns of phase and references that I enjoyed.

Your hard work shines through every gigantic chapter of this story! Great work!

Wait, so I forget who Lizzie was marring to but why would they let him go so easily? Would they test out new drugs on him or a new method? Maybe he also knows who Lizzie is to be married to and know/hope his reaction is bad and he’d be sent back? Hmm

speaking of Hannah,where is she? during the fire,I keep trying to memories every staff. like, sebastian is on the run and looking for ciel, "the reapers" are doing their "job", Doctor was dead, the 2 amoeba angles are electrocuted, Claude got ripped by sebastian, agni manage to find his way out by himself, and those 3 staffs(servants) are on their "vacation"

Well, this is definitely one of the most... disturbing fics I've ever read! But, I sunk so deep in this fic that I couldn't stop reading it... even though, more than once, I felt like throwing in the towel and stop reading this, I didn't. Cuz this fic is gripping and enticing and mysterious and deadly and terrifying and horrifying and intriguing and I love how Sebastian, when he first entered St. Victoria, was this exceptional but, more or less, typical guy but, as time passed and his interactions with both St. Victoria and Ciel deepened, he became someone that is colder, more dangerous, excellent at pulling the wool over people's eyes and always thinking of Ciel. Obsessively so. Though, Ciel thinks similarly of Sebastian, he seem to have more self-control over himself. This is a grisly fic, what with all the horror that has happened in that 'hospital', but it's morbidly interesting too. Though, honestly, if you ever decide to write a sequel, I hope it's not as... gruesome as this fic has been. Still, I like that Ciel and Sebastian and the others, (though I don't know what to feel about Agni and his offering up Sebastian on a platter to save Soma), are out of there and beginning to heal and live a life they want to live.

I stared reading this. I finished reading this. And I want to do it all over again. Can't say I've ever been high on the thought of... this. Beginning a FanFiction that uses a wide variety of cast from different parts and medias of black butler/Kuroshitsuji into one chaotic story that mutates the entire universe the characters exist in. I usually find it clumsy and awkward to read about two characters that have never truly interacted on the canon ground, suddenly appear together and forced to deal with the other's presence and all that comes with it. With that said, I'm from this point on a hardcore shipper of Snake x Drocell and I can't get over how well you depicted Claude's position and interactions with all and everyone. It was brilliant. In fact I honestly think this entire story is worthy of being called brilliant. But seeing as this praise comes from me, an amateur reader and failed writeralthough still proud over my nonexistent works -, I suspect it might not be much for you to revel in. Nonetheless, since I can't get this entire story off my head I'm going to be a somewhat responsable fan and write a little review of Inertia Creeps. Admittedly, half the reason I began this story was because I had no idea what the title meant... being the non-native English speaker I am, I had hopes to find the answer in the first chapter. Futile, really.
But plus points for an intriguing title. I suppose whatever functioning means works. Sebastian's depiction in the beginning rubbed me the wrong way, in my opinion he was by far too humane. Got it slapped in my face I was thoroughly underestimating you as an author when I started to realize what you were doing. I apologize for that, I can't count how many times I criticized your work for the very thing that makes it so clever. points for excellent character development. I liked the somewhat minor yet meaningful part our favorite, yet sort of useless trio had. Loved the part with Finny. I generally love Finny, but I especially loved him after being locked into that horrible room. You really gave the minor characters justice points for that. The way you managed all of the characters from (at times) different universes to coexist in this AU. Quite frankly a great blend of juicy carrots, it was very enjoyable, and I with confidence speak for all who read this far when I say that.
I especially enjoyed the way you made me doubt if Doctor and Claude actually hadn't met on canon ground. I thought it perfect how you depicted their interactions and their disagreeing andbefore I continue I just want to point out you're great at making disagreements and minor (or major for all that counts) fights between the characters. point for contrast in personality. Very entertaining. point. Another thing worth mentioning (there's many) is your translation of Claud's obsession with Ciel. Power play, mmmm I like that. Hunger for a soulpower play. Hihi, It certainly made the moments with Claude interesting enough to make him one of my favorite characters in this fic. Usually I hate his guts, and I can't say you made it much better, but now he got something that made him way more satisfying to care about. Definitely more points to you for making him even remotely worth reading about. (I especially liked his death and the few scenes before that.) points. Alois death. Enough said. Anyone dare say it was anything less than the best thing in this world, is wrong. I don't care that it's a subjective matter, they're wrong. You're brilliant and they're wrong. point. Regarding the entire AU. I like it. I'm not overly hyped about the entire thing, but I like it. The other half of the reason I started reading your story, was because of the promise of mad play it held. Just the description made me hope for an insane and very unhealthy story. Although it was unhealthy, seeing as I more than once stayed up past 03:00 to finish one chapter after the other, I wouldn't call it insane. Calling it insane would be... inaccurate. The story was chilling, clever, sometimes grotesque however at other times very gentle with both the reader and the characters. I'm not saying the ending was an especially happy one and that all and everyone was sparkling after reading the last word. However you didn't turn Freckle against Ciel. You didn't make Ciel utterly betray them, okay in a sense he did, but the result is what matters and in the end; everyone did not hate him for his very existence. And what hit me the most was that you let more characters than I expected survive (the one that surprised me the most by far was Wendy). My point is that it's not insane. It's much more than that. In the end you left us readers with the lingering feeling of a chapter that ended but a story that continued behind the curtains, which I personally found myself chewing my nails at and demanding I go find another chapter that didn't exist. Honestly, it was a great move on your part and I'm now going to move over to your other works (I'm gonna assume you have some) and see if any of them are worth my time. I expect them to. point for great AU and depiction of plot and story. The way you translated canon events into this AU was like butter on a toast. Deliciously written and outmost interesting. Made the reader vaguely aware of what was going to happen and then the crisp satisfaction of what ACTUALLY happened. However I'm slightly sour over that you let Joker and his company live as I had actually looked forward to Ciel turning on them and- yeah, I enjoyed the story nonetheless. And actually having Freckles not die was quite a relief as I'm sort of attached to her... so in the end I suppose I fully support your choice of events. points for the making canon events naturally happen in this AU. Not because they were only naturally entwined with the story, they were recreated in such way giving them an original feel and a sense of novelty. Extra point. With all this said, there is still more I'd like to praise you for however this is already getting long. Leap into the non-praise matters. Although I found the this fanfic to be clever I did not find Ciel Phantomhive to be. I'm not about to criticize the way you depicted Ciel's emotional turbulence, because it was quite good and I found it befitting the character (another big point). However what lacked was Ciel's show of strategy. Ciel is clever, we all know that and you made that point quite clear yourself. Though, when was it ever really used? I find that his smarts weren't really exploited as they maybe could have been. I'm saying this while bearing in mind the creative way which Angela and Ash died, so I am fairly confident you have the writing ability to back up Ciel's brains. Therefor I blame the setting for not allowing his intelligence to play out not your ability to demonstrate it. So I don't believe this to be a flaw to the story as his inability to strategize wasn't ever fully allowed, just something I wanted to point out. Ciel's cleverness is definitely something I personally like to see more of. How did Ciel get into that institute in the first place? I get the whole how-he-lost-his-parents- and cult-burned-down-thing. And then I understand how Kelvin found him... but everything in between is sort of lost to me. (I'll make sure to re-read the last few chapters to make sure I haven't missed anything. I'm still pointing this out as I want to be able to give a review from a standard one-time-reader's point of view.) According to Ciel's file it was because he burnt down that building with the cult members in that he got stuck in St. Victoria. However I'm still slightly unsatisfied. Ciel was supposedly the only one that came out alive, and then he disappeared. People knew he had DISAPPEARED not died. We have it demonstrated to us what happens to buildings under immense fire. I would assume it impossible to be able to find remains of everyone in there, he should have been declared dead. However Madam Red knew where he was, Kelvin soon found him. Did everyone assume Ciel was the one who started the fire at the age of 10/11 without question? Madam Red included? If not declared dead the cops should have investigated the matter, did they find him guilty? How? Because he was the sole survivor? Maybe I missed something? In all honesty it doesn't bother me much, I can conjure up my own answers with some help of my imagination, but it would be nice to know the canon reason. Another thing I was wondering about was Undertaker. Mmmm... was it a coincidence he was a Chairmaster there...? Like I know he was involved in ward V but why was he? I imagine it was pure coincidence Ciel ended up at the same place as where Undertaker conducted his seemingly random experiments, but I can't help to wonder if he at some place and time played a roll in Ciel specifically ending up there. Or if V specifically made Ciel end up there because of Undertaker. So all in all I'm wondering why Undertaker matters. Like I get that Ward V is needed for plot and character development and all that but why Undertaker...? What goal did he have all along? As to the "V" in the "Ward V". Five? Though it was pointed out it was not a number, so I suppose that means; Not five. Could it be Undertaker Mocking the V in the letter? Undertaker having his own little scheme in play towards the V trying to catch him red handed? Maybe V is actually five and I've just completely missed the point (sadly I would have to say it wouldn't be the first time I missed there punchline). I don't know honestly. But I would assume the V in the letter stands for Victoria considering its clear connection with Phipps, Brown and Grey. (Side note) I'd be curious to see how you'd portray Victoria in this story. Is she really an important person in the government/state or is she somehow more connected to the police? I'd assume the former, but you seem to constantly do the opposite thing of what I expect. I wouldn't be surprised if the V was actually a weirdly written U and that Phipps, Gray and Brown were just Undertaker's dolls all along... Nonetheless this story is worth of praise. Much praise. And I'm happy to have read it. Thank you very much for this wonderful read, it'll definitely recommend it to my fellow Korushitsuji fans in hope that they'll read it and talk to me about it.
