I know I'm kinda late but I just wanted to tell you how much I liked the story and I would really love to see sth like this on the series! (I know it's weird, but I kinda like my heroes to get hurt ;-) )

You like totally read my whumpmind, Kink! ;) Deprived-of-his-voice!Jane is a real big kink of mine. Ever since I zeroed in on a theory that I've toying with. The theory? That each JaneWhump episode focuses on a gift or sense of his that gets injured or screwed with. The first season had one, 'Bloodshot', wherein 1 of his 5 physical senses was taken away (his ability of sight). And the second season had one, 'Throwing Fire', in which he operated on a case while in a semi-altered state (via basball-inflicted concussion), complete with headaches, wooziness, and fainting spells (not to mention confusion as well).

Anyhoo - if my theory's right, then we might soon be in store for a burned hand episode (affecting touch), a deaf episode (affecting hearing), or a mute episode (affecting his ability to speak) THIS season. And, dare I say, these could be tantalizing ideas for US to mess around with, even if my theory were to be proven wrong. ;)

Anyway, your fic really captured the tension and bond between Lisbon and Jane, while at the same time detailing an awesome whump idea. The plot bunnies are STRONG with you, it seems! :D I too love that Cho was the one to actually take the shot. And that Jane thinks about Star Wars and Darth Vader right before blacking out. Only Jane could come with that kind of oblique but oddly apt analogy. And that he thought to die here would have been pointless and stupid sice the Monster was only a distraction, NOT Red John? Another great idea. Great characterizations throughout! :D You picked words carefully and they sounded as they were actually thinking or speaking them on the the telly. BRAVO! :D

Oooh,wasn't sure I was going to like it, with your Jane pain warning, but it was brilliant! The way you wrote it gave e a clear picture, so it was like I was actually watching it happen in front of me. Loved it!
