TexasDreamer01 chapter 1 . 11/12/2013 That was delightfully subtle, how you did that. XD |
Minirowan chapter 1 . 7/11/2013 This was great! I love how distinct each of the characters are portrayed in their thoughts and actions. I bet if Anzu had spent more time with Yami and Yugi before the switch, she would have caught on. My only problem is that I don't understand why Yugi and Anzu would like an open relationship between the three of them. From Anzu's perspective, Yami should no longer be as desirable because of his actions while pretending to be Yugi. Yugi's acceptance to Yami's proposition is more understandable because Yami gave him the chance to live richly not once, but twice. Anyway, despite all that, I really loved this story. |
Higuchimon chapter 1 . 9/14/2010 Nicely written fic you have here. Interesting AU. Good luck. :) |
Animom chapter 1 . 9/13/2010 A tried and true formula, but done well. Lovely tone, the small concrete moments very satisfying (munching the apple). Lord Yami's reaction to the flowers and to Anzu's dress made me laugh out loud. (He's a bit of a ponce, isn't he?" I said to myself a few times.) "Even half-warmed, it was still the best tea he had ever had." Indeed. PS last line was the source of much,*much* merriment. Really, a very delightful confection overall. |
yllimilly chapter 1 . 9/9/2010 Ho! If it isn't (more or less) the same setting as last season's first round (dragonshippins)! We are blessed! This era is always pleasant to read, and you do have a knack for it :) Doubleplus... is right - you are raising the stakes with this wonderful story! (enough exclamation marks now) While the idea might give way to a predictable plot, it totally wasn't - you had me constantly wondering what was going to happen next, and squealing like a little girl :3 The humour was a real treat and the characters were so alive... The audacious sexy ending (I DESIRE YOU !) was the cherry on the sundae. Please do keep up pulling such plot bunnies from your hat, dear, and good luck for the contest! Milly |
Dbl chapter 1 . 9/7/2010 Jess! Go outside! What are you doing writing such a crazy story for the first round? :O But anyways, it's our gain because we get to read something superbly amazing! You really have a talent for these period pieces, and adding the humor and situational comedy is just icing on the cake! Some of the dialogue was just perfect (pointed orange vertebrae, anything with Yugi and buttons) and I cracked up reading their hijinks as the rest of the world tried to keep up with them. You have such an authority of knowledge over this subject matter that we as readers completely believe you and believe the story, which makes it all that much more magical. I love it! Love love. I'm glad you got to show us some humor, and I hope you keep it up in future rounds, because you're definitely gonna be sticking around in the competition! Thanks so much for writing such a truly spectacular piece! ~Double plus plus plus |
jadedly chapter 1 . 9/7/2010 Oh, you did a great job with this, MMF! I guessed at The prince and the Pauper sort of theme from the summary, and now I feel cool for getting it right XD I really liked this, especially since it had a fluffy happy ending. :D (PSH, I can't even find anything to criticize D:) Good luck in the contest! |
Always a Bookworm chapter 1 . 9/6/2010 Excellent work! I really enjoyed this story, especially I have a weakness for the Regency era (speaking of Jane Austen, Anzu in this sort of reminded me of Elizabeth from 'Pride and Prejudice'! ;D) and I always have a soft spot for stories set in my home town! I really liked the whole 'Prince and the Pauper' theme, and I definitely spotted some 'Comedy of Errors' moments! xD! You made this situation believable and extremely fun to read, and your characterisation was spot on. Your writing style in this was very appropriate for the setting, and really impressed me, so well done on that. (The only word I could find that was out of place was 'jerk' and that's hardly a big deal!) Well done on a hilarious and enjoyable story! Great work, and good luck in the contest! :D Bookworm |
safa'at keruth chapter 1 . 9/6/2010 I guessed the whole 'prince and the pauper' plot before I actually read the story; now I feel ridiculously proud of myself. XD Anyway, I loved the characterization of Yami, Anzu, and Yugi, especially Anzu's immense confusion after they switched places and Yami's realization of what people actually think of him. (The image of the lord of a manor cutting himself a slice of bread in an empty kitchen amused me to no end...) This line was priceless, by the way: "I firmly requested lilies, and you have given me these pointed…orange…vertebrae." And during the last scene, I half expected Yami to either be horrified (gay people/threesomes weren't very popular in England at that time, I believe...) or suggest that they do it right then on the carpet. XD Good luck in the contest! |
