So, so heartachingly beautiful. This is the Wheeler I know and love. Perpetually waiting for a chance like this to be alone with her, and would give up everything just for a few moments like this. Exactly as you said. And the tiny little details you put in here, like the strap of the dress and his determination to make sure it stays on her shoulder-just so tangible, so real. Kudos, as ever, and thank you for writing this!
