I am loving this story, and it was quite a treat to see mention of Brookhaven, Mississippi in this chapter. I grew up nearby, and can imagine that, even in the future, many things likely won't have changed much!

Hi! Just a quick note to tell you that I just came across this story and love it! It's one of the best young-Jim stories I've read.

PS - I was totally excited when Winona was diagnosed with MS (although I guessed when you mentioned the symptoms). My mum has MS. You know, in Voyager, the Doctor makes a reference to using a "myelin regenerator" (I think it was on Tom?). I was watching the re-run with my mum and we just sort of looked at each other and burst out laughing. Her friends in the MS community all agree that that's just what we need - a myelin regenerator.

God I'm crying because of: 'When he is alone, Jim sits on his bed and sings quietly to himself, "Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday dear me.
