Esme's backstory is the darkness. Seriously. I can't understand why they didn't make a flashback or something like this in the films. Rosalie was raped once, but Esme was abused every day of her human life.

It may have been rather short, but it really explained Esme's story pretty well... you're completely right, it SHOULD have been in the books.. all they had was "I jumped off a cliff" in the books...

Anywho I reaaally loved this I thought it was weird how they had a looong chap on carlisle, rosalie nd jasper also they told about alice nd emmett but there wasn't anything about esme I found out about her human past on a websight stephine meyer
