I read the epic first, so this was wonderful to read the complete story. But did the kid get the medal for meritorious service?

Love the comment about the very messy signature sounds like John.
I also have the problem of trying to finish one story but get interrupted by other characters demanding their own story. The letter rom John to Jake's family was brilliant and definitely sounded like something he would've written. The thought of him owe-ing him money made me smile.

I have always been fascinated by the Sheppard family dynamic and I LOVE the way you've worked this together to give Patrick a little insight into the life his son leads. The regrets are so clear here that I am wishing again and again that there could have been some reconciliation between them.

Can't wait to read the novel. Patrick really was complicated but one thing is for sure he loved his sons.

Great story. I know it's an older one of your storys but somehow I managed to miss all your storys until now. And that's really a shame, because I love storys about Johns family giving him some more of the background he did not get in the show. There are just not enough of those storys, or obviously I just didn't find them.

Usually I really dislike Patrick Sheppard, for not accepting his son like he is. But you've put a very different facet on him, which allows me to see the reasons behind his acting. This makes it hard not to feel some kind of sypathy for him and I enjoyed it very much to see this relationship from that different point of view. I think your story gives a good glimps of the Patrick Sheppard, Dave was talking about at the funeral, rethinking his actions and regretting what happend between him and John.

So thanks for this interessting story! I can not wait to read your other storys!

I love Patrick finding out a little about his son and getting to read the letter he wrote. The letter sounded very much like something John Sheppard would write. And Patrick getting sidetracked at the end is very typical of what would probably happen. Nice little peek at Patrick Sheppard.

I love hearing more about John's father's feelings, and that he had come to respect John's work. Great story.
