If she can go see his grave on a weekly basis, why couldn't she go and see him when he was being a shitcunt to her?

Completely unexpected. Bittersweet.

Maybe Bella didn't want answers but Esme sounded so blase about a GIRLFRIEND. Why was that? And that must have been the girl and no hard feelings. And then his explanation is that he didn't want her to be hurt if something happened to him. How do you not hurt if someone you love is killed? I hope you answer these questions for me.

This was such a sad, but beautifully well written story. Tragic yet sweet and hopeful at times, brought tears to my eye and all. Good job and thanks for sharing.

Hmmm, so finally read this short story and I can't tell you how much I felt the pangs of angst at the end of each chapter, lol! As much of an Edward/Bella HEA hoor I am, I don't mind stories where they end up apart, if that's where the story Bella and Edward dictate to their writer. So I don't mind the ending here...and when I say "mind", I mean it in an arrogant fahsion, like you owe us a B/E happy ending. I just usually stay away from the non B/E stories to save myself the heartache. Lol.

The one thing I would have wished for for Bella would have been that Edward could have been a braver person and let Bella know sooner that it was over for him, to have let the words come from him. When my then-boyfriend, now-husband "broke up" with me while he was away at college 22 years ago (yikes!) and I was still a senior in HS, I never heard from him; the phone calls, letters and visits when he was home abruptly came to a stop. It took all my guy friends and make co-workers to convince me that there was another girl. Long story short, there was, and a baby come out of that relationship and I had to hear about it from my best friend, who HE told because they worked in the same mall that summer. Regardless, through countless relationships thereafter for each of us, we grew up and got back in touch 11 years after our "non-breakup" breakup and we eventually got married. And now almost 11 years since then, we're still together, fighting through the hard times to keep it together and enjoying and savoring the good times immensely with our 8 year old son and three dogs, the minivan, station wagon,and our ranch style house with our brown ranch style fence in the backyard, not the front, lol. Bank goodness there are more good times than bad.

So, yeah, unfortunately for Bella she sat and waited while Edward went on about his life, afraid of his feelings for Bella yet remained to prove that he was just a boy thinking with his other brain and got himself another girlfriend. So afraid of his feelings, yet jumps in to another relationship. *rolls eyes, boys* So, moral of the story for ME, is yes, experience life, take chances, because you never know when your time will come and you don't want to end up with a world of regrets. Like Edward proved through his unmailed letters.

So sorry for the novella I'm leaving but I didn't realize until I started this review that I haven't thought of that time in my life in YEARS! And the hubs hates whenever I've mentioned it over the years because he's embarrassed. So, boys eventually grow up to come men. Too bad the fates didn't allow that for Edward.

So heartbreaking but bittersweet. Lovely story. I actually liked the nice James for a change, you don't see that often.
