Sometimes I come back to this story to see if it's updated at all and even though it hasn't in a long time, I still enjoy re-reading it. I really love this work, I hope you're doing okay and maybe that you'll possibly check back on this. :)

Is this still going on? Im really curious of what you had in mind for the 14th chapter and what the end was going to be.

This is a really good idea. I like the idea of Light being obsessive over something other than justice. There were a few grammatical errors, but they were easy to ignore. So far it seems like a well-written story.

Rain fell, hard and cold on his skin, as if punishing him for his unforgivable actions. Light hit the nearest wall, gasping, embracing the sharp sensation of pain. He deserved it, for taking human life...

If Light became a great detective, he could stop killing criminals with the Death Note and go about things in a moral manner.

Your second killing was almost in self-defence; it's the same concept as if you carried a gun, and had seen that you cannot stop the assault with fists alone.
Your first killing... was probably in the heat of passion; you couldn't imagine such a small child, akin to Sayu, being killed in front of your eyes.
But cold-blooded murders to lure L here wouldn't be excusable. Unless you are absolutely sure that this person isn't innocent, wasn't framed, that his existence cannot help anybody (such as, information in his head cannot help investigation) and he has repented for his crimes. Then, and only then, if the person wishes to die, you can grant him that exit.
I wonder... Has any fanfiction described AU in which LightKira assists suicides of repentant criminals? Makes deaths of people - who are already on death row - less or more painful, slower or quicker, depending on their wishes?
I muse... Has in any fanfiction LightKira has been a martial artist proficient enough to neutralize a bully without resorting to Death Note, a mind sharp enough to free hostages without killing the one holding them? Such as, if you consider one of the TV reporters expendable, you can make him die from the same bullet which disarms-and-or-maims the criminal while the hostages remain unharmed.
"As the killer he's looking for. Wouldn't that put a stress on your relationship? And you can't work with him if you're dead or in jail. You'd have to kill him, or be killed yourself."
Forfeit the Death Note, and you will no longer be Kira. He will not have to kill you, you will not have to kill him. Though, Light will have to get something to stop Ryuk from killing them or one of their friends, or revealing Light's past as Kira to anybody.
The public, while praising him online, named him killer. He really had a lot of making up to do when he joined ranks with L...

Which could only mean that it wasn't L on the TV... If they were on death row... Light felt the smirk... Everyone would think Kira had killed out of immature anger... Light's true goal was still safe and secret.

Like Light would kill L, even if he could. That would defeat the entire purpose of using the Death Note. Light was already bothered enough that he used it to kill criminals.

If Kira was as ruthless as it pretends to be, they would already be dead. And considering that Kira can manipulate humans' actions before death, Kira would have been able to find their names if Kira wished to.
L waited until he had a slice of cake, taking a bite and talking while chewing. "Kira doesn't want to kill innocents. Otherwise, he would have found a way to kill the FBI agents."

As much as L thought Kira's actions to be immoral, he couldn't help but admire the obvious ingenious of his enemy.

"Will you kill L, then?" Light glared, irritated by the mere suggestion. "That has never been part of the plan, and never will be. Unless L turns out to be some crazed mass murderer." "Like you?"

"It is such a deduction that was the real test," answered L. And Light was suddenly positive it was the great detective, all feelings of disdain based on appearance and eccentricities fading almost instantly.

He wouldn't kill her. She was an innocent girl that admired him for bringing her family's murderer to justice, and had fallen for his charm, neither of which he could blame her for.
Besides, Rem would have killed you for this.
He hoped the action, not at all thought through and completely compulsive, wouldn't result in Mogi's death. There wasn't much L could do about it, though, so he focused on the TV once more.
Misa, don't kill him. I hope that in the worst case only truck driver is dead, not Mogi.
"However, at the moment, we should probably go and see how Mogi is doing. I've been notified that he's in the hospital, and not dead."

He was finally going to work beside the greatest detective to have ever lived. All of Light's efforts had been worth it. He had never felt such excitement in his life.
When will you stop killing?
Misa tilted her head in the common sign of confusion. "Two Kira's? What, is the power spreading?"
Is she an excellent actress, or has she forgotten Light's explanation about Rem?
Even so, Light would have had to observe him and care enough to pick up on such details.
Will L notice how Light is focused on him?
"One thing you're right about is that you can't catch Kira," said Light. "However, we can."
How will Light catch Kira if Light is-was Kira?
He hated that it was the chance that he'd get it once more that made burying it alright with him. And even that was uncomfortable. He didn't want to give it up.
You will be able to inform L that you were Kira, later, if you wish to. I hope you will not store a piece of Death Note in your watch.
"But I don't think he's evil. The crime rate has been going down. I can see why he does what he does. He has a messed up sense of justice. Still, murder isn't the answer, as justified as it may seem."

Mikami shut it as casually as he could. "Is there something else you want, Matsuda?" Leave me so I can do my god's work, or I'll kill you for disrupting my serving of justice.
Mikami knew Matsuda's name by looking at his face. One more reason to suspect that Mikami is Kira.

I like the part with Misa and the sundae, that was cute. But the only thing is, everything's pretty much the same as canon except with minor changes, which is redundant to read.

I get a feeling it'll all change when Light and L get close, but the sole fact Light knew who L was (without explanation when L's supposed to be the FBI's secret ace) and opted from the get go to get on his bad side (and Ryuku was startlingly quick to point that out) rather than secretly investigating L and killing off his possible enemies via him/the death note to get close to him... just kinda bugs me.

So I salute you for your valient efforts as an author - trust me I know how hard it can be - and wish you all the best in the future, because it would just be disrespectful to keep reading now. Good luck :D
