This also sounds like a setup in The Patakis, only Arnold and his parents are traveling rather than just living in San Lorenzo. I think they could be doing that as well, since they need to spend time together as a real family. And Arnold and Helga might try a long distance relationship, although I think your fic about the last minutes of the spin-off make a little more sense to me. (Though I love the phrase on the T-shirt that Phoebe gives Helga! XD)

I always wondered what it would be like if Hillwood didn't have their neighborhood peacemaker, helper, miracle worker, and advice giver around for a few years. Everyone loves Arnold, and they'd all miss him for sure. But Phoebe sure gave Helga a great piece of advice right here. She's an awesome friend!

Ha, those fortunes sound so predictable, and it's funny hearing Helga say Gerald's common line.

And while I do think some things would improve in Helga's family, I don't think she'll ever completely forgive them because the memories of being neglected will always be with her.

And Arnold returning...that's only the best birthday present she can ever receive (though I think a night of heat, passion, and lovemaking would be the best present he himself could give her). And Miles and Stella are good people, knowing their son is homesick, so they came back, and visiting San Lorenzo would still be good to do.

I love it! :) The entire idea is simply precious to begin with, and I love how you had it be Helga's birthday too! :D I just knew Arnold was going to show up! Though I didn't once suspect that he was going to be in her room. XD I thought she was going to go up and change, and when she came down he was going to be already stuffing his face with cake. XD So you managed to surprise me! I love surprises! :D But I hate surprises too. If I get even the slightest inkling that someone's going to surprise me, I absolutely HAVE to know what it is.
