rebecca-in-blue chapter 3 . 4/21/2018 Wow, I was so curious to see how you would end this story, and this final chapter did not disappoint. What a clever idea to have the crucifixion and resurrection play out as it seemed to in the Bible, but in a "behind the scenes" way that's plausible because of Xavier and Kurt's powers. Kurt's presence and religious personality adds a good theological dimension to this chapter; I love how Xavier thinks that stopping the crucifixion is of course the right thing to do, but Kurt is horrified at the idea. So Jesus turns out to be nothing more than a mutant with healing powers here, which this Jewish girl finds kinda amusing. At the same time, you follow the Bible so closely, and write the crucifixion scene with such gravity, that I can't imagine it would feel offensive to anyone, either. Really wonderful work - I will be recommending this at my FF forum. |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 2 . 3/16/2018 I continue to be so impressed by this story. You clearly know your theology very well. I think what I like most in this chapter is the shift in Jesus's characterization. In the first chapter, he seemed wise and, well, Christlike, but here, he gradually takes a darker turn, getting angry (damning the fig trees), egotistical (anointing me with oil is more important than helping the poor - well, couldn't he just be a televangelist?), and clearly mentally unstable (hearing "God"s voice in his head his whole life). I love the conversation between him and Xavier at the end, and how Xavier gets him to confess his fear and almost gets through to him. Kurt showing up was an unexpected twist, but I wasn't surprised when Xavier wanted to stay through the crucifixion. Kurt was such a religious person in the films, so I'm curious to see his more of reaction to this ("are you sure it's the right Jesus," lol) - and to see just how this story will end. Tiny typo: "they {will} never find wisdom" |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 1 . 2/16/2018 Wow, this is such a smart, well-done first chapter. I'm really impressed by how well you write the world of ancient Israel and Xavier's reactions to it, and how you even make it fandom plausible ("one of Kurt's teleportation experiments" was a nice dash of comic relief). There are a lot of nice little touches throughout - the shades of Erik in broody Roshem, Xavier's wariness around Jesus's mutant abilities, "legends are already obscuring the truth" - that make so curious to read more and find out where this is going. |
Mr. Stick and Figure chapter 1 . 5/22/2015 Ehh. |
Kat8615 chapter 3 . 5/17/2015 As a Christian, I found this incredible. Thank you. |
Anon chapter 3 . 2/28/2015 Jesus joins the X-Men. I might be a practicing Christian, but this is pretty cool. I wonder if they can use him as a spokesperson for mutant rights. "Jesus is a mutant. You hate and want to persecute mutants. Want to persecute Jesus? Didn't think so..." |
Matthew1985 chapter 3 . 5/24/2014 Interesting story. I disagree that the Gospels are fanfiction. Even in Kurt's dialogue, the Gospel message was presented. Something to think about. Have a great day. |
Man of cartoons chapter 3 . 11/17/2013 You may not be using the account anymore but i have some things to say about this fanfic. Strangely, it had been on my mind for long and i thought i might as well review it to get it out of my mind. Here goes. I like the plot of thw story and everything despite myself as a christian. However, i disagree with you when you mention Jesus as a fanfiction. Do you even know the defintion of that word? I really liked it, but i still consider this insulting to million of christians everywhere. You may not believe in him and i respect you for that, but if you're writing something like this again please consider about the christians that reads this. I've seen proof that Christ existence before my very eyes and no i'm not trying to change you're belief of this. The point is the story was great, but insulting as well. |
Guest chapter 3 . 8/24/2013 Love it. Haven't read it I a while. Would u mind if I adapted into a comic book? |
anon chapter 1 . 12/3/2012 Hey there! I found and read your story after listening to a BBC radio 4 feature on fanfic. At one point the presenter was talking about crossovers and she found yours. She seemed amazed and...well, she seemed to love your concept. So weird to have people talking about fic on the radio! Here's a link to listen to it . /iplayer/episode/b01p0bmx/When_Harry_Potter_Met_Frodo_The_Strange_World_of_Fan_Fiction/ Sadly it expires today so you might not see this in time to listen. Actually, seeing as this was published two years ago you may not even use this email address anymore...but anyway... _ |

Vader'sMistress chapter 3 . 10/2/2011 I love this fic and even if you did play loose with the theological aspects, the fic was still interesting and it would be awesome to see a sequel, see how the xmen would react to having jesus mutant with them? :) ~Carolina |
