That was great. it's nice to see peeta wih his family. He is quite different in that setting, but in a good way. You did a really nice job on this, great job with characterization

Is this meant to be a continuation of "My First Date" ? because even though the characters are the same, on "My First Date" K&P are implied to be together per the Epilogue (and also on the Wingman story)
In any case, this was really sad, poor Peeta! and the awkwardness of his brothers, trying to be supportive and brotherly but knowing their brother was so far gone and changed.. I love that regardless of how hard his life was, his brothers and father were somewhat normal and there was some nice camaraderie between them.

When I read about the last few parts, it was so touching and sad and stuff all at the same time. Aaaaaah the bittersweetness. Poor peeta. But hey, he won in the end! ;) At a price though. Lost his family, but got the girl. :/

Fanfic is often great at filling in gaps in the original. You do a great job of that - going into something new with Peeta's brothers and an interesting alternate angle on something already covered, Peeta's reaction to winning the Games and his sham relationship with Katniss.

This is awesome. I like your characterization of these two brothers (and their names are great). I like Peeta here, and his conversation with Miche about how Peeta would have died for Katniss. Just really very lovely.

Just wanted to say, I love your Peeta POV here (also read your "My First Date" AU, great!). You make him out to be a real teenage boy, even with the cursing (he doesn't curse in the books as far as I recall, but they're from Katniss' POV and I don't see Peeta cursing in front of any lady, much less the one he loves). I'll also mention, since no one else has, that I love how you include Peeta's conviction that he doesn't want to be a piece in the Games, and that he would have protected Prim the same way. Some readers seem to focus a bit too much on his Katniss-love and forget that he is motivated by more than that.

I absolutely LOVED MFDWKE, and I love this canon piece, as well. You are, by far, my favorite fanfic author EVER. You always craft such engaging dialogue, create realistic characters, and have such a sophisticated style. I think of MFDWKE and this as canon now!

I'd buy any book you write about ANY subject just to enjoy more of your writing. My only wish is for you to write ONE MORE tale...I'm still holding on to hope...

OH MY GOD, this was amazing! So well written and I absolutely loved Miche and Rilee! (Props for not calling them "Wheat" and "Rye", by the way.) The characterizations were amazing. This is totally canon to me now :)

I just read "My First Date with Katniss Everdeen," and when I saw that this one-shot was about a scene involving Miche and Rilee, I assumed that this also would be set in the MFDWKE universe since they were Peeta's brothers there, too. However, it didn't seem that way, after comparing the Peeta in this one-shot to how Katniss and Peeta were together in the Epilogue of MFDWKE. Also, I just noticed the dates that both stories were posted, and I realized that this was posted first, so it must have been based on Peeta's canon relationship with Katniss, not the AU that is MFDWKE. So, I'm not so confused anymore. I think. :-)

This was really interesting. I liked what we learned about Peeta's father here. I enjoyed seeing that he'd did what he could to give his sons enjoyment of their life in the bakery. He didn't just let it be drudgery for them; he suited their tasks to each of them.

I love your writing and I love Peeta so of course I think this is amazing. You capture this incredibly painful moment so well. I like Peeta having a good relationship with his brothers, just because Katniss doesn't acknowledge them doesn't mean he didn't spend time with them.

You meld his humor and sadness so well like when his brother warns him to be careful and he thinks to himself there is no chance of that.

As always your sentences convey so much:

" I want to hate her. But I can't. I can only hate myself. I hate that I fell for it. I hate that I feel this hurt about something that meant nothing to her. I hate that I'm not right for her. I hate myself because I still want her."

& the phrase that broke my heart,"our victory, my failure."

I've just discovered your writing...may I say, WOW! I absolutely love how spot-on you've written Peeta. I'm not sure I can even put my praise in words. I know this is a one-shot and you have longer stories (I'm planning to read them all) so I hope that you're still writing and have more stories coming. Wonderful job.
