Alan Rickman is the only voice of God no matter what fiction. _ And Morgan Freeman is the only form God can take on our plane and speak, although He favours being a she looking like Alanis Morissette.

I'll admit I'm not usually a fan of the Halloween oneshot, but this one is quite nice. Let's face it, YAHF is usually just a reason to give different skills/powers/memories to one or more characters (usually Xander) in order to rewrite the show from there. And I'm down with that, 'cause it's cool to play the "what if" game. But this was one of the few one-offs that really captured my attention.

The cross was kinda obscure... had to google the Nick Gunar character to get info on the movie. In the future, if the cross isn't EXTREMELY popular, you might want to include details in the opening A/N. (Might want to do this even if it is popular. After all, popularity varies from country to country and region to region.)

The only other "note" I can provide would be to say that you might have considered adding something to explain why Xander and Cordelia were so strongly affected and retained their memories after the event. Leaving it a mystery has it's own charm too, but it might be more satisfying to some readers if they have a concrete reason. The two easiest that come to mind is either intervention from "god" since you already alluded to her protection of the island at the end, or (and this is my personal favorite), have Nick and Loki recognize the differences in their bodies and how they respond to each other before they kiss for the first time, then have a "spark". Basically, the idea would be to have them establish that while they have their own attraction, whatever is left behind of Xander and Cordelia also have THEIR own attraction, and when the two kiss have some electric "spark" that will lock into the minds of Xander and Cordy the memories of their possessors.

I hope this didn't come across as arrogent. I have nothing but respect for anyone who can write and actually finish a story. Lord knows I have enough started that will likely never find an ending. But the editor in me saw this one little tweak, and some authors like to hear such things for future reference.
