Pinwheel chapter 7 . 6/22/2016 Ha! I'm Vegetarian. Why? Because Vulcans are. Awesomeness. |
Guest chapter 13 . 4/11/2015 Well, it may have taken 4 and a half years, but it looks like I'm reviewer 102, so your dream of over 100 reviews has become reality. Glad you finished this story - would have been a true cliff-hanger if you hadn't. (Plus, I only read completed stories, so couldn't have given you another review. ') ) |
UnidentifiedNomenclature chapter 3 . 9/26/2012 Review 101. I just wanted to take this last review to comment on your writing itself. Hearing you speak in the author's notes, it is such a difference from your actual writing. It's so well balanced between formal and informal, and it allows the focus to be on the plot and characters themselves instead of bogging itself down so most of the reader's energy is spent on simply trying to piece together the sentences or stumbling over intricate structures. In short...keep on keeping on. I love it, and thank you. |
UnidentifiedNomenclature chapter 4 . 9/26/2012 Review 100. The dolls. Oh wow the dolls. I've never really interacted with anyone even remotely resembling these people, but they sound so neat and manipulative, even though they're actually the ones being manipulated...? Anyway, they're neat. Yes, you can distract people with dirty thoughts. It's surprisingly effective, especially when most people consider you clean and untainted. ;) |
UnidentifiedNomenclature chapter 5 . 9/26/2012 Review 99. On the subject of pairings, well done. I hate it when people sacrifice character just for the sake of making some fluffy romance. All things aside, slash stories can be done well. Sometimes. Just not very often. For you, I'm digging the platonic three-way bromance we've got here. I feel that since we're all so busy delving into romance we lose some of the truly fantastic opportunities to simply explore their friendship because, if you get down to it, they have some pretty spectacular dynamic happening. So thank you for taking some time to get into that. The best aspect for me is the complete devotion Spock seems to have for them, no matter what. I'm so sorry for being so fixated. -_- |
UnidentifiedNomenclature chapter 6 . 9/26/2012 Review 98. I do want to see the boys get properly drunk. I imagine this to be pretty darn close to the mark. Kirk still endearingly charismatic (somehow, I've never personally understood his appeal. More annoying than anything), while Bones sulks in a corner, nursing his brandy and generally being intolerantly tolerant. He's such a riddle. |
UnidentifiedNomenclature chapter 7 . 9/26/2012 Review 97. The challenge is now long past, but good luck with the whole vegetarian thing. Today is 9/26/12, and I've been vegetarian since the April of 2010, so not too long, but I still applaud your efforts. *deep breath* How could you make Spock kill another Vulcan!? Okay. Oh my gosh not okay. I seriously just could not take that twist. His whole breakdown after Bones 'dies' was so well written, and I find the idea of him just going oblivious and self-hating to the extent that he just lays on the floor, head in hands, so real and lovely in all the worst ways. That was awful-good. Bittersweet? Whatever that term is. |
UnidentifiedNomenclature chapter 8 . 9/26/2012 Review 96. Kirk's event, while not nearly as scary/heartbreaking as the other two, was so fitting and dare I say quite hilarious. He's such a hard character to write for because in the show he's not even terribly realistic, but you've managed to get his nonchalant faux-cool down. Also, I agree with drugged!Bones. He deserves to be hunted down by all of his past flames, the jerk. |
UnidentifiedNomenclature chapter 9 . 9/26/2012 Review 95. Spock's event. Oh my gosh. Unabashedly squealing here. Love the feigned disdain and blatant discomfort with watching himself like that, even though logically it's a non-issue because they're merely projections. The platonic Spock-Bones love was amazing as well. I'd like to think that Spock's human-bits really would push him to those desperate acts (throwing himself against mirrors and such) before his logic can catch up when it comes to Kirk and Bones (but mostly Bones). |
UnidentifiedNomenclature chapter 10 . 9/26/2012 Review 94. The ride you chose for Bones was perfect. I personally find it quite difficult to look into Bones' past because he is so reluctant to open up about it, but you did so well torturing him. Everything you could imagine to bother him, from his past to his fear of losing one of the crewmembers he's supposed to be healing and protecting, you've done beautifully. I do love that he manages to keep his head afterward and use his doctor (veterinarian?) skills to patch himself up instead of just being mopey. Country doctors are made of stronger stuff than that. By the way, your Spock conclusions for Zira were just fine. Hardly a stretch for Star Trek. |
UnidentifiedNomenclature chapter 11 . 9/26/2012 Review 93. Love love love your Spock. I will out-right admit that I am a Spock fangirl. I just can't get over it. But with everything you've put him through, you've kept the air that is so distinctly him. The absolute refusal to acknowledge that he is anything less than logical at all times, even when he so obviously isn't, and I loved your description of how uncomfortable he is with the general atmosphere at the beginning with so many people all being chaotic in such a small space. I seriously cannot overstate how much I loved how you captured him. |
UnidentifiedNomenclature chapter 12 . 9/26/2012 Review number 92! First thing I loved about this story was how in character everyone was. It's difficult to do when you finally get your hands on these people that you love, and you just want to bend and twist them to your will, but you have a knack for letting them be themselves. They behave as they would in the show, just with the added advantage of us being able to be inside their heads and hearing their thoughts. |
UnidentifiedNomenclature chapter 13 . 9/26/2012 I don't know if you're even still on fanfiction/even interested in Star Trek (I desperately hope so), but I felt the need to share this. I read this fic when you were still in the process of writing it, but I lost track of it sometime between when you posted the last and second to last chapters. I've recently gotten back into Trek fiction, and this story apparently made such an impression that I hopped onto Google, searched for a few phrases that I remembered, and was able to get back here to reread everything and finish. Just let me say that I adore what you've done here, and thank you for making something so memorable. On the off-chance that you are still here, here's to your 100 reviews. |
Ladyofthelake13 chapter 1 . 11/11/2011 This is an AWESOME story. Honestly, this should be made into an actual episode! :) I could see Bones and Kirk, particually the latter, on those rides. Plus, you made it kinda educational without being boring. And believable too. Keep up the good work. |
OkamiLink chapter 13 . 11/2/2011 I'm grinning from ear to ear. Thanks for the wonderful story. Live long, and prosper. |
