At first I was skeptical of the premise - it's very easy to Mary Sue/Gary Stu characters by giving them secret talents - but the idea of a book of who she was, THAT I did buy, as there are historical precedents of that sort of thing all over the place. What's more, the development was very logical. It was frustrating that he destroyed most of the Crystal Catacombs-related pieces, but his doing so made sense in terms of his character development at the time. And I'm glad he didn't walk in and find her reading the book; that would have set up an interaction that would have been hard to pull off successfully. As written, it's very realistic, and the way you narrate Katara's thought processes and actions is lifelike and entertaining. Katara's final action is a liiiitle out of character but still fits. Really the only thing I have questions about is why the book was in that particular armoire in the first place, but that's of relatively little consequence. Overall, very well done. |
