Whirlwind421 chapter 1 . 6/23/2015 Awesome story. It was an interesting thought piece. |
gibbsheroic27 chapter 1 . 1/13/2013 I love this, but I gotta ask-how does JD eventually get out of that elevator?(mentally pictures doctor in glowing white coat Percival Cox stomping to the rescue : ) |
AnonWriter chapter 1 . 2/29/2012 Awesome story and I totally agree with you. I do wish there was another chapter (or ten) though. :) |
Bambieyes1234 chapter 1 . 11/14/2010 Wow. It's such a shame that this is just a one shot. I would have loved to see JD call Elliot out on all of her shit. Thanks for a wonderful read. |
linkkinparkk chapter 1 . 11/5/2010 You are not alone in your analysis of the Elliot/J.D. saga. I felt that Elliot hurt J.D. so many more times than he hurt her, and got away with it time and time again. He slips up once, and gets hell for it. It was clear he does love her, he was just too immature at the time to deal with a proper relationship. He sabotages all his relationship. As for Elliot, it was clear that he wasn't over her, and she kept pushing and pushing. I don't hate Elliot in the slightest. I love her character, and I love the Elliot/J.D. pairing, but I thought out of the two of them, she was the one who wronged the most, though maybe not the most severely. Awesome, awesome one shot. I loved it! |
Vithian chapter 1 . 10/11/2010 Hmm... I swear that I've written a review for this before, but according to , I haven't, so I'm writing one now! (Obviously...) Moving on, I really loved this. Personally, I don't like Elliot. At all. I didn't mind her for the first, like, ten minutes of the first episode, but after she completely turned her back on JD when she looked to her for help after he'd helped her in the exact same situation, I couldn't help but not like her. I will admit, after season 4, she did improve, however, during season 5 I could see her slipping back into her old ways. Really, I don't mind her character, but I believe that she can be quite the hypocritical horrible person, specifically to JD and the Janitor. Something that really stood out to me was how similar Elliot and JD can be at times. I mean, yes, it was tactless and insensitive for JD to tell her that he didn't love her at the rehearsal wedding, but really? She basically turned around and did the same thing to Keith. In my opinion, Elliot is viewed as a victim in her and JD's relationship because she's almost always the victim in everything. To the people around them, both JD and Elliot are nerdy, clumsy and both could be victims easily. The difference? JD is never really viewed as a victim. So, when their relationship turned belly up, all the blame turned to JD, because who could Elliot hurt? She's just the pasty white girl from Connecticut. Hmm... I've rambled long enough, so I'll get on with the actual review! This was really great, really. You captured JD really well, managing to convey his frustration, and you even explained why he wasn't brushing it off like he did in the series (At least, I think you did... In my mind, you explained it, okay? XD) Great job (Sorry the actual review part is so short!) ~Vithian |
206 chapter 1 . 9/6/2010 I loved your story. I am also not anti-Elliot but I have to agree that she was very hypocritical at that time. I felt really bad for JD every time she did something like that. One of my favorite more serious moments on Scrubs was in the episode where he goes out with TCW for the first time and (he's yelling at everyone) he yells at Elliot for entering in a relationship with Paul just a couple weeks after she told him she couldn't be in a relationship. I kind of wish he had done something after she literally jumped into Sean's arms after sleeping with him. |
Replica Velocity a.k.a. X5 714 chapter 1 . 8/11/2010 I always thought that his self-sabotage button was pressed because of everything Elliot had done- run before he could get hurt again and I so felt for J.D- great fic!. |
Owl Emporium chapter 1 . 7/2/2010 :( Poor JD. But this was great! (: I loved it. :D |
Semaphora chapter 1 . 6/9/2010 I remember being thrilled at the prospect of a story like this when you first mentioned it to me in that PM a while ago, and now I'm even more thrilled to be reviewing it. While I always knew there was something wrong with Season 3 and 4, at least for me, it never really occurred that this was it. I was glad that Elliot seemed to be finding (and standing up for) herself, but it always bothered me at the same time, especially how she could be so in love with Sean then creep into the on-call room bed with JD, knowing all too well that even if he didn't have feelings for her, he was a very MALE friend. Upon reading this, it all made sense to me. I don't hate Elliot at all, but she was definitely more than a little hypocritical. In regards to the actual story, I really enjoyed how you drew all the parallels to JD and Elliot, and how JD was almost realising them for the first time. My favourite was actually the line you used as the summary, and it really struck true for me - JD felt so bad about what he'd done to Elliot, yet everything Elliot did to him in turn she seemed to see as retribution for what he did to her, even after he'd apologised and they'd tried building their friendship again, and didn’t seem to care for the consequences. I also like it how the story is one gigantic comparison as to how Elliot could take things too far. The way the story has been set up, too, is stunning. You start out with a compelling and suspenseful beginning, where JD wakes up in a place unknown, gagged and tied and with no real memory as to how he got there. The way we realise things along with JD is a well-written and attractive plot device, not to mention how you make the long segments of contemplation flow so smoothly and without ruining the mood of the piece. I agree with other people in that I really would have liked to see somebody find him, but I also believe that it wasn’t what was happening to him now that was important, but his thoughts on how he got there, his life and his discoveries about Elliot. Delving straight back into those discoveries, I definitely think the height of her hypocrisy, as you mentioned in the story, is when she had sex with JD, only to jump into Sean's arms approximately nine seconds after they were done. Then to actually have the gall the next day to tell JD he wasn't being a good friend to her if he felt in the least bit angry about how she'd ditched him so quickly, without a single thought to his feelings, was the final straw. I love how the piece is both melodramatic, yet realistic. It really gives the readers mixed thoughts on the characters by the end of it, and definitely requires some contemplation afterwards as to whether or not it was excusable, what she did to him. I personally like to believe—despite how much I agree with this outlook—that Elliot maybe really didn’t know that JD was still into her. I know if I was her, and he told me he didn’t love me after I’d risked something like she did for him, I’d at least be feeling pretty conflicted. I wouldn’t be sure after that whether he saw me as a friend, or if he really did like me. I suppose Elliot, being JD’s friend as well as lover, should have known about his self-sabotaging ways. The reason why I bring this up was because in “My Happy Place” she genuinely seemed surprised to know that she hurt him. It doesn’t excuse what she did, of course, but that’s just another option I was thinking of after reading this. That aside, and getting back on track, I really, really enjoyed this piece. You write JD stunningly, and I liked seeing this different perspective to the events of Season 3 and 4, as well as this new, kind of angsty JD. I adore how your stories manage to bring out the sides of the characters not really shown in the show, and how they’re still entirely in character while being compelling, interesting and downright fun to read at the same time. All in all, I love your writing, your ideas, and everything your brain comes up with. I shall end my epic review here, since I still have to get around to adding one for “My Voyage” Chapter II, which I read today and am even more in love with than before. I’ll get to that now, methinks. ;) x |
samanddianefan10 chapter 1 . 6/7/2010 great insight into JD's thoughts in this unusual situation. You're one of the reasons I cruise this board. Nice job! |
seilki chapter 1 . 6/7/2010 I have to agree with you there that Elliot treated JD just as badly as he treated her, and she never had to deal with the backlash in the same way that he did. And when you put it the way you do in your story, it does seem very unfair. I'm glad they grew up eventually xD I really liked this, it was amazingly written and thought provoking :) |
NeverThink chapter 1 . 6/7/2010 Oh my God, I loved that! I'm not anti-Elliot either but I totally agree with you. Exactly, infact. I didn't like her character at all during season 3 and the beginning of 4, and I think that she has a lot more responsibilities then she owns up to in that relationship. This one-shot was one of my favourites. Loved it. xxxNTxxx |
EliH2 chapter 1 . 6/6/2010 Hard not to enjoy your writing. It flows so well, and is always, always, in character and thoughtful. This is no exception, and I completely agree with you. Anyway, awesome job. Though, I for one would enjoy it if you made this a two-shot with someone he knows finding him afterwards. After all, the situation would be pretty good conversation fodder. :) Thanks for entertaining me with another brilliant piece of writing. |
Sarah1281 chapter 1 . 6/6/2010 You know, I never really thought about that although I did think Elliot's reunion with Sean after cheating on him two minutes prior was a WTF moment. This was really well-done and while I'm a die-hard Elliot fan I know that she's not nearly perfect. In sitcomes like Scrubs oftentimes they do physical humor like this and then just ignore how traumaitizing it would be for the actual person undergoing this and so I really liked your depiction of the matter. |
