This fic is really great. I especially liked the bits in italics, how you wove in Spain's greed and connected it to historical details and used imagery and honestly you're just talented okay. I also liked how you compared kid Romano to grown-up Romano. The depth you gave Spain was WONDERFUL. The eyes detail was very sad, and it was a really nice way to bring light to the conflict at the end. NICE JOB.

Loved it! I've always felt Spain (and probably Romano) would have many conflicting emotions over their relationship. You expressed that very well.

I was wondering about the dialogue though. Was it intentional to use a single quotation rather than the two? In a strange way though, I think it added effect.

wow. just, wow. this is the most gut-wrenchingly REAL stories that i've read in a long time. one cannot help but sympathize with Spain, and hope that Romano can bring him out of his darkness and into a more hopeful light

This idea was quite impressive, something else about them once in a while. :) Especially Spain being in a haze and only remmebering his feelings of want of money, blood, sex, and this moremoremore - it made the whole story so much more realistic than it would be if you had just described Spain's thought.
And a good ending. Depressing, but good. :)
