I was ok, I really was. Until that last line that is...

i loved two parts in particular, first where it says he would "tell them to fly, fly, fly..." it's light and fluffy and just fits and the last two very sad sentences...

This story is short and simple, but very powerful. ... I honestly can't figure out how you manage to cram so much emotion into these little stories... great stuff.

I cried as I read the last bit with the shooting star...T_T

The only real bit of 'Supernatural' I know is from fanfiction. So I may not know all the references, but I know that this was written very well. It's a good piece and very... I want to say 'emotional' but it's the sheer dryness of the emotion, the apathy, that seems to make it so. Like these thoughts are an old wound and all that jazz.

Middle children always do have it tough. I like how you incorporated that in to it, along with Gabriel's playful manner and how the war affected and changed him. Angels are similar to humans, who were made in God's image, no?
