Naruto has someone to keep him out of trouble, but who's gonna keep an eye on Iruka? This probably wouldn't be as funny if I drank coffee . . . but I don't and it is, tremendously so.

And poor Iruka, struggling between Naruto and the fox - he's actually /envious/ of the bullies! This is an impressive portrayal of his psyche, and you "made it look so easy."

Heehee, Naruto as a disco ball. Next time I can't sleep, my little brother better watch out. Then again, I'll probably be too busy reading more wonderful stories to play pranks.

I have to say, knowing how the series turns out and how useless Kakashi is as a sensei for anyone other than Sasuke (and not great for him, either), this chapter is bittersweet for me. I love reading Iruka's pov, and I think you do it well, and capture his personality, struggles, and choices wonderfully also. But I too think Naruto would've been better off with Kurenai - ah, but that may be STar'Kan's (sp?) Team 8 fic influencing me...

Neat scene, though, and Kakashi would know his way around politics, for sure.

That earlier part where Iruka sees Naruto's apartment and Naruto kicked him out tore at me, btw, and I loved how Iruka started getting involved. And, lol, that Naruto shown all that day after trying to set a trap for Iruka.

chapter two... as i read it, my face couldn't help but skrew itself up in emotion. why was it so powerful, the scene where iruka comments on how the third allows naruto to live like that? because it's true. it's never quite mentioned in kishimoto's cannon manga, but it's so obvious that that's exactly the way naruto grew up. unloved, ignored, barely permitted to exist by the few people that are supposed to care the most for him. I cry for naruto, a fictional character, because his pain is so tremendous, it's tangible even beyond the pages of manga and this story.

by the way, thanks. thank you for writing an iruka/naruto story about naruto's childhood that DIDN'T make me want to strangle iruka at some point.

I liked this. This nice, simple but heartwarming progression in the friendship between Naruto and Iruka was perfectly done. I especially liked the last chapter, but then, I'm biased towards Kakashi.

There were a lot of nice steps of progression, and I was very happy that you didn't use the kunai as the turning point. A lot of people have jumped on that bandwagon, but I'm glad you expressed much more creativity.

Iruka and Naruto were very well done, and Iruka's self denial was cute.

Anyway - you did a really good job! I look forward to seeing what else you write.
