I love this pairing and I love how you portrait the characters, especially Spain. That is exactly the dynamic I imagine between them!

I enjoyed reading your story a lot, because it covers the beginnings and the end of Austria and Spain’s marriage as well as the War of the Austrian Succession. The scene towards the end almost made me cry. What I also like is that you didn’t just include Spain’s cheerful side, but also Pirate!/Conquistador!Spain ... and the intelligence behind his seeming obliviousness.

As for Spain’s gift: The 16th century is a bit early for pianos, but since Himaruya made the same mistake in his Chibitalia episodes ... so what. Plus there were Clavichords.

In my opinion, it’s really sad that there are hardly any stories about historical SpAus and I’d like to do something about that in the German fandom, where there are hardly any SpAus stories at all... Would you permit me to translate “The Rise and Fall of a Union” to German and post it on the German website Fanfiktion dot de? I’d use the account “Sade”, which belongs to a friend of mine and is reserved for translations only. Of course, I’d give full credits to you as the author and link back to your original story.

This was absolutely riveting. I loved how you portrayed Austria and Spain's marriage, and I also adored the slight Frain/PruAus present in the last chapter. This pairing is actually one of the few that I can stand. You did a fabulous job.

I love the fluff, feels, and history thrown in. Normally I ship Spamano and PruAus but somehow you made Spain and Austria work out perfectly...

SpaAus is a fascinating pairing, one that I think deserves more attention. I'm primarily a Spamano shipper; it's my OTP. But I love Historical!SpaAus, simply because there are so many ways of looking at it. The emotional potential of this pairing goes far beyond most Hetalia ships. I agree that it probably wasn't a happy marriage. And I'm glad someone's written a fic like this. You've done an excellent job. I loved it, I loved everything about it.
