Reviews for Meifu's Gate ::Fourth Maki::
Tuesday's-Here chapter 74 . 4/21
Absolutely love this! I could read about their adventures throughout their lives and never be bored. You're such a wonderful storyteller, I get lost in their world and never want to leave. The pacing and intrigue bring you in and keep you hooked. I wanted to race to the end but also hated coming near to the end because that means its over! It takes true talent to absorb your readers in such a captivating manner so I must congratulate you.

Ohhh these kids! Stress you out just like real kids do, but I find myself cheering for them and wanting to help them but at the same time stand back and watch them with pride as they grow and learn about themselves.
Enishi found his niche and he's such a reliable steady guy that I'm so happy is a stable rock in Team Stupid! Hirata had some serious growing moments in regards to his sister but I still hurt for him, he understands that she is an enemy and he shouldn't show her mercy but he did because underneath he still has love in his heart. Ryuu gets to fit in the position best suited for him and not what his blood determines which just parallels the point of the story so yay! Also made me happy that he and his father are able to connect but saddened by the distance from his mother, although hope exists with one of his sisters so there is always hope for the future. Speaking of Hope... Juushirou my favorite! Have I mentioned how much I love him? Cause I do. He seems healthier and in better control throughout this entire story and it makes me happy. No matter how much he grows and learns he's still determined, protective, a little naive, responsible, a bit stubborn, and devoted to his people and I love that. I know that as people grow up things change but even after dying (still gives me a tear) he's still that same kid I adore. Always rushing into trouble but with good intentions and he has his shadow to watch out for him. Honestly that aspect of Juushirou and Shunsui's relationship both makes me laugh and cheer. Juushirou obviously needs some watching out for him and Shunsui needs someone he cares enough about to be proactive in his life. Their bond is so pure and strong, it has to be to survive all the centuries in the future and watching their friendship blossom and grow is such a treat. As for Shunsui he's so strong in heart and constitution, to always move forward and do what is best even when it hurts him takes incredible strength and determination. Gotta love that lazy kid. I bromance these two so hard!

I'm so happy there is a story about graduation! One of the most important days of their lives and we get to be there! I wholeheartedly enjoyed going through the Academy with Team Stupid and watching them grow, to witness their adventures and hardships, joys and moments of peace. Thank you for writing this world, for putting it to paper and sharing it with us!
ochre madness chapter 73 . 1/21
Do you identify with any members of Team Stupid? YES!

Which member of Team Stupid has traits you'd most like have?

Aww, it will always be Shunsui for me. I love that he doesn't fit in the mold for the hero. He's got a strong moral compass, but he isn't stiff or rigid about the rules. He's smart, sees through the heart of things, and his laidback personality is a contrast to how he is in battle. He doesn't want to fight, but if he does, he can wipe the floor with the enemy. I feel he was vastly underrated in the anime which is why these stories are such a wonderful treat. Even if his swords here aren't canon, they still work on the same premise, in that his powers are dark in nature. That's always been a point of great interest to me. it's easy to underestimate him, only for him to turn the tables when he feels like it. i've enjoyed the many times he's been able to do that to his teachers in the meifu series. he really is unique.

Sorry, I've been babbling. i just love this character so much and it makes me so happy to find these stories. They are works of art for me, especially with the way they've captured the psychology of the characters, not just of Shun, but of all the members of Team Stupid. i'll be so sad to see them go. Thank you so much for your work! I can't believe the amount of effort and detail that went into these stories. I'm happy I still get to read three more! :) Thank you!

Also, OMG, yay! two stories closer to Tenka Ransei! :)
ochre madness chapter 65 . 1/21
shunsui is so badass here! omg! also, aww, kaoru! good for you, girl! :)
ochre madness chapter 57 . 1/17
wooow! i think they could hear my squeals a mile away. Shunsui is so coool! i've always loved the fact that he's such a mixture of contradictions and i've always wondered how it went when he first tried out his powers. i keep coming back to his fighting scenes with stark, especially when he came out of the shadows. what a game changer. and there's just so much to explore with the idea of playing with shadows. maybe it's coz he's always cultivated that drunk, lazy, easy going rep that it's such a contrast when you see him get serious. and to have the skill to write that down. damn, that's awesome!

this is perfectly imagined. i love this! thank you!

also: awww, Suzuno, that poor kid. awww...
ochre madness chapter 55 . 1/17
omgosh, what an entrance that was! hooray, shunsui! also, the tension in that scene when you cut it to the image of the blade coming down towards ryuu just about killed me!
ochre madness chapter 50 . 1/16
damn, the kids are so cute. i'm going to miss this bunch when i finish the series. love how you've written each one, their personalities are so vivid and alive. i wish THIS was a part of the official part of Bleach.

it's always a gamble to write about so many characters since readers don't usually care about everyone. But here, i wanna know what happens. i'm emotionally invested. thanks, author!
queensands chapter 67 . 4/22/2018
Fuck me! When I started reading the Fourth Maki, who'd have thought I’d end up crying for Seiren of all people! And I’ve always been attached to all the characters in this story but who’d have thought it’ll be this intense! I loved Ryuu from Second Manuscript itself. Then when Shirogane trained Juu I never expected to like him this much but here I am rooting for his survival and development. And I totally see Einishi being reincarnated as Renji one day! I could totally believe it. I even love Kaoru! So here I am...tears streaming down my face for all the Kuchiki angst :( well done! You’ve ruined me for anything else. Nothing I read again may ever compare to what I felt reading this series of stories you’ve written so beautifully!
queensands chapter 50 . 4/19/2018
Aww man! Drunk Juu is the cutest thing ever! :)
queensands chapter 34 . 4/18/2018
When we were in the very beginning of things...I never imagined I’d be so attached to Shirogane of all people. He was haughty and disdainful but now I’m seeing so much more into his character, realizing that he’s what he was raised to be and now given contrary reasons to believe otherwise, he’s changing his attitudes slowly. I guess once again, this is a testament to how multifaceted your characters are and how good your writing is. I’m so lucky to have found your work. Also I love the Ukitake family. I loooove how Juushiro is someone I can root for from every fiber of my being. Same goes for Shunsui. You’ve established their strength while maintaining their softness and true personalities. PERFECTION _
Notchka chapter 51 . 8/6/2017
(LoL I left so many reviews the first time I read this that it won't let me post a new one!)

Years later and I'm still crushing on Enishi. Wish you'd right an Omake about his later years. I miss him.

Likely you wrote this up somewhere, but a google search was not helpful. Who was Mei Fu and why is his (her?) gate important?
Notchka chapter 48 . 8/1/2017
Wait wait wait. Did Kinnya know that Futsuki was Sennaya's blood son?! If Kinnya did know, whoa. What a jerk Sennaya was to send Raiko away!

(Re-reading start to finish before jumping back into your current story!)
Tomyallen chapter 74 . 6/13/2017
Sigh...so sad to have this finally end. Mind you of course you've granted the world more content afterwards but this part of the story was very engaging and thus hard to let go of. All of the character (canon and OC) have grown so much and we are seeing them carve their own paths and make their own decisions. I am truly content though with how you ended it...the destiny of the Kuchiki is one the fits perfectly with its future in the canon universe thus making this story seem all the more real.

Truly a wonderful journey filled with plenty of mystery, suspense, drama, action, intrigue, and true character development. Very well written...and its been a joy to see how you changed as an author through Meifu's stories. Thank you so much for the wonderful read as well as your engagement in reviews...its been a blast!

Tomyallen chapter 73 . 6/12/2017
YES! He got to speak with Kinnya! (Nearly coughed up a lung doing it though) I am so happy that they had that opportunity and that Kinnya not only has helped Juu in the background here but he's willing to continue their acquaintance with each other and help him achieve Bankai...amazing! These characters really do just walk away from you don't they? Cause I had no inkling that this would come from Kinnya being in your story.

I'm so happy with the way this chapter. It went exactly the way I wanted it to and went even further...truly happy about it!

As for your authors note...I'd probably say Juu. I'm extremely academically inclined and pick up concepts quite easily, I wish to attain a type of strength which is hampered by my bodies own struggles, and I'm entering a work force where the prejudice is still there against me (mind you its more about gender than social status). I think one of the few things we don't have in common is our ability to develop friends...I have to work really hard for the relationships that I have.
Tomyallen chapter 72 . 6/12/2017
So I read this chapter last night in bed but didn't review as I could barely keep my eyes open at that point so I've had a little more time to reflect.

I'm really glad that Juu and Shun had their chance to talk about the events back in district seven as it means they can actually move forward from them and also learn from them. Particularly because Shunsui was as worried as he was about it so its good to have that cleared up.

As for Hirata...at first I was surprised he was going to do but then I realized that no that was the correct action for a character who has developed the way he has. And it was also appropriate that he couldn't move against his sister. He'll make a good leader for the Endou...he's willing to make hard decisions but he's not immoral either.

I hope Kinnya speaks with Juu frankly...I'd like to see how he feels about him...but I'll just have to wait and see if he does. Im sad that this is nearly over now.
Tomyallen chapter 71 . 6/11/2017
Yay Kinnya! He's a boss...even at 70% of his power he completely caught Aizen off guard even though he has his own Bankai. I hope before anything worse goes down (because lets be real I can almost guarantee that Aizen is still alive) he at least has a chance to talk to Juu properly.

And poor Juu finally remember the night in the snow as well...that won't be the easiest to work through. Hopefully he doesn't keep it to myself...he should at least talk to Shunsui when he gets the chance.

I see there is only a few chapters left though so I wonder what's planned next? Maybe Aizen is going to slip into the background for now and bide his time as he's planned with Eiraki. We shall see. I'd like to know where Hirata is in all this as well.]

Great chapter! Can't wait to see whats next.
