why would naruto (who before you stated was in the middle of the class ranking) be put as dead last? .

I get that this is your story, but I'm tired of your lazy writing. Quit just saying crap is different in a world with well defined rules. Without something like the sharingan you can't simply break the rules of genjutsu, even with it pain disrupts it. It might sound good if the reader doesn't care about the story breaking from the original content but i just call it lazy writing. The honest reason it's do irritating is because it seems like you have more talent than this. Why even say it's a genjutsu, why not just say the drug did that too?

Kakashi shouldn't have been quite add chakra deleted there since he didn't use any jutsu other than mizu bunshin which has a low chakra cost. His sharingan didn't get the same workout as it did in cannon. Another instance where it seems like you didn't think and just wrote cannon.

This chapter was cute. I liked it. Admittedly, i always wondered why a duo dubbed "the demon brothers" went down so easy.

Your explanation of how Mizuki beat Anko and Iruka was weak, but whatever. You let Naruto basically walk over Kakashi, that was some extreme downplay on his abilities. I get it, he was holding back, but no way could Naruto have surprised him like that. Your desperation to fit cannon is making got a poor story that stated well. Even your attempts to break away from cannon by having Naruto get the bells was poorly done. You should have spent more time with this, out started pretty good.

Not really a fan of this chapter. Making him more intelligent only to have him still end up as the worse student is kinda ridiculous. There were better ways to follow cannon.

Your explanation as to why Naruto was the dead last doesn't make any sense. If by failing one test you failed everything, how can Sasuke be the best student in the whole year ? Everyone who passed the test had to succeed in all the tests, therefore it's impossible to create a ranking since all students had to succeed in every test or failed the whole thing. It's clearly just an excuse to have Naruto be the dead last once again but you should have put more thoughts on it because as it is, it's simply completly illogical.

I would think the same, but it wuldnt be a genjutsu rather a ninjutsu. Genjutsu is illusions of the mind and while it makes sense, with the show saying pain will release it it would be more likely to be a ninjutsu.
