Ok...hold on: How would Sheridan, who was in the military long before Ivanova (at the start of the Earth-Minbari war Sheridan was already first officer of a warship (the EAS Lexington!), while Ivanova was in university (or was it school?) and had not finished officers school etc.) be of lower rank?

Seriously, the military doesn't work that way - unless you earn a field-promotion (which might or might not be upheld after the war!)...but in her case she'd have to earn SEVERAL (from ensign to lieutenant (2nd class), from lieutenant (2nd class) to first lieutenant, from first lieutenant to lieutenant-commander, from there to commander (Sheridan's rank before his field promotion, after nuking the Blackstar!) and from that rank to full captain!

I doubt that even the greatest of the great of war-heroes would manage that and even if she did:

His time in grade/rank would give him seniority (in a fleet, the senior-captain would be in command - unless an admiral is present!)

WW2 was not actually a war of vengeance. Poland was attacked because they masses their army on the German border and German intelligence captured their invasion plans. Before going to war, Hitler presented the plans to Britain and France and asked them ro make Poland stand down, they refused.

Hitler also tried to end the war, return conquered territory, and return the borders to their pre-war state. Repeatedly. He was always refused. Shortly after one of Britains refusals of his offer, Churchill gave his speech about fight in the trenches and beaches and never surrendering.

WW2 is not an example of a revenge war; it is an example of human stupidity.

I doubt the Minbari public were pleased by Earth accepting responsibility for the war since the only way to explain why would be for their government to admit the truth of what happened to start the war in the first place.

You would think the Shadows or Drakh would have contacted Humanity by now. We seem a perfect candidate to for them.
