Umm is it just me but are you switching from third person POV to first person every other sentence? Please don't do that. It confuses the readers.

Although, and I hope you don't mind me saying, you were a little bit repetitive here. You know, as in when you introduced the ring, and repeated the word ring in the next sentence.
