oh poor Don!
epalladino chapter 1 . 5/1/2010
Interesting alternative ending. Dark, put plausible. I could see Don acting like this. Thanks, Beth

Wow, this is just great. So glad the writers didn't go for this for the very reasons that you have brought out here. Don would be lost without the FBI and I loved how they applauded him as he left.

I can't bear to see Don so sad but I really hope you continue with this as it would be interesting to see what he would have done and if he could ever be professionally fulfilled again. Not to mention his relationship with Charlie.

Super job. Thank you.

Oh man, that hurts.

You really get into these character's head well, as well into mine.

I sure wish you'd had Don go to Charlie's; he doesn't need to be alone and certainly
not to be drinking all by himself.

Crazy. I'm still hurting for him!

Wow. This was very moving - very intense and sad - and it could have easily happened. I am glad you had him go directly to Robin. I really feel it's what he would have done, considering Charlie's reinstatement. His job in the FBI meant a lot to Don and even though he gave McGowan his ultimatum, the fact that they pushed him out while taking Charlie back would certainly hurt. His thoughts as he tried to figure out what he would do, where he would go, were very real - I really felt his shock and numbness and uncertainty. Very well done. Love to see a companion piece follow.

This was a wonderful yet very saddening story as it could easily have happened. Charlie, as per usual, never stopped to consider what impact his actions might have on Don (and I do think, within the show, Don would be passed up on promotions now thanks to the liability the FBI will perceive Charlie to be).

I love that Don, as always suffers for sacrificing for Charlie, only to realise just how much he loves his job. I do think if this happened, Don would eventually grow to resent Charlie and it would forever have a detrimental effect on their relationship.
