Uhura the 9th chapter 20 . 4/13/2018 interesting story, Spock deserves her wrath, some love hard. hope you can finish. |
camilleRomance chapter 20 . 4/29/2014 Well. It's kind of been more than 2 weeks. It's actually been about 3 years. BUT HEY! It's all good. Even though you didn't finish this, I just want to say that this story is really awesome. This is the first fic I've read where Spock DIDN'T come back. (Well he did eventually but I'm talking about before[in case you didn't know:D]) it's very emotional and everything is(was?) very well thought out. It really stinks you didn't finish. I hope you might maybe just possibly consider completing this. But in the more likely scenario, that's a no. So if you didn't read any of my rant up there that's cool. All I want you to take away is that I love this story and you did a phenomenal job with it:D have a nice day, week, month, year, life. Whatever. Bye! |

Ebony Phenoix chapter 19 . 2/7/2011 Your expression of their turmoil is superb. The showing method always feels more real to me than the telling method. The ambivalence has such sweet and terrible tension. wonderful. Unfortunately I have to wait for the rest. I hope it is still coming. |
LeochickX chapter 19 . 1/25/2011 This is just great! Thanks for giving me something new. PLZ keep it up! |
QTFics chapter 19 . 1/1/2011 Well...at least it's progress, Spock now has a better understanding of how his actions affected Nyota. |
teaberryva chapter 19 . 1/1/2011 This is a wonderful update. Nothing to be ashamed of here! You have a knack of making the abstract concrete with your use of imagery. I especially like the heart and soul as the sphere- at least that's what I interpret it to be. The essence of a person distilled into the sphere, no beginning, no end. When it splintered (I like the petal image: love me, love me not)then regrouped into a smaller sphere, diminished by loss and pain because of the loss it makes me wonder if we do become stronger at the broken places. I guess we'll just have to wait and see! I wonder at Spock's unfinished thought too... did he think that humans could not feel emotions as powerfully as a Vulcan? Human emotions to Vulcans must seem like childish tantrums to Vulcans. . . the screaming child who sounds as if he's suffering greatly only to stop when distracted by a new toy, tears immediately forgotten. It's an interesting thing to comptemplate. Since Vulcans only show emotions under great pressure, the easy displays of humans must make them seem very shallow indeed. (No, I'm not asking for hints. This may not be the direction in which we're headed at all, but I'm sure to enjoy the journey.) I like that you didn't do a quick 'all is revealed and understood." Relationships are complicated in and of themselves, but when you add not only two very different cultures but two different species, it's only reasonable to assume that understanding takes time. I do feel they'll reach some sort of understanding, but whether or not it will return to a romantic involvement I don't know. You've done a fine job of balancing the emotional and the reasonable here. It's one thing to wish the whole time was gone, never happened, and another to explore and learn. Your Spock is very good. Alien but still compassionate and to an extent, intuitive. Uhura is very strong and very brave. You didn't have her dissolve into a quivering mess or become a harridan. You've given us two people whom we can both love and respect without taking sides. The whole dialog about words was well done, exploring concepts without being boring at all. . . the whole Plato Allegory of the Cave, with words being the shadows of emotions, always imperfect representations of a thing. The moment when the liguist has to acknowledge the limitations of her life's work was powerful for me. You also portrayed the whole holodeck experience very well,; I especially like the line about the sensory domination. Your sense of pacing remains top notch. You broke the early tension of Spock's hesitiation at the door-wonderful way to show his own misgivings by the way- with the perfect quip about what Uhura would do if Spock were overcome again. Then you gently guided us through the experience without minimizing the intensity. Well done. Don't worry about self-imposed deadlines. Things can't be rushed sometimes, not rebuilding relationships or stories. |
