Given the flashback, I'm surprised that Snape survived Lily dumping him after a spectacular bit of public torture. But we're all glad he did.

And yet I think Ron will do reasonably well as a temporary ward of Snape. Especially with Millie looking after him, too.

It sounds like Snape dealt with traumas of his own (glad that Sluggy thought he was worth saving, it's not like anyone else did). Ron's in good hands.

I'm glad Harry sat on Hermione over Millie-bad enough to have a rival, but a Slytherin?

And yet Millie has trauma of her own-hope she tells someone.

I'm glad that Millie told about Ron, it sounds like he was going much too far out of panic and could have done permanent damage or died.

I LOVE THIS STORY!
For starters, the plot isn't a HP fandom cliche. There's Ron as protagonist. Everyone is in-character - which when it comes to Hermione is so refreshing because so many people make her OOC and I love that you included Harry's perceptiveness since folks tend to forget that part of him - and I like that you did Slytherin House justice by providing us with three grey snakes while Malfoy and co. are still their asshole selves. Realistic handling of grief and self-harm with no idiotic romanticising of those things.
All in all, this is a superb story! :D

I love, love, LOVE that Harry talked sense into Hermione. She might be booksmart but she is very stupid when it comes to dealing with people.

I really like this story. I find it a bit weird that Ron sequesters himself away this much (from people in general, it's perfectly logical why he might need space from closer people within the framework of this story). It's also a bit eerie how precisely Snape and Bullstrode get him. The general gist sure but down to minute needs when previously not knowing him very well is a bit odd. It's also odd that Snape would just have a Gryffindor labeled as blood traitor stay with him even if Mr. R isn't yet resurrected. He tiptoed so nicely around the Bullstode issue.

I like how depression and grief are pictured in this story tho. Especially when Snape starts downplaying his own past lest McG and AD look too deeply into his current frame of mind. And I just like Snape in general so everything is cool as long as I get more Snape scenes :D
