This is one of the best Rufas characterizations that I have seen

I know i have read this before, and i still love it. So well written, its amazing and you just get lost.

I'm so happy to read another fic exploring the lost brotherhood of these two. Thank you for writing it as I was starting to think I was the only one! I loved the imagery of the sea and the gulls and the range of emotions Rufus is feeling. I encourage you to write more on this!

Wow! :o I really love reading this story! It's really insightful, and it's the kind of thing that's there but not really shown.

I must greatly applaud you on a job certainly well done. Your story was so full of emotion, especially this and last chapter. It made my eyes water up, just thinking that Lazard was the only person that Rufus thought cared about him and had a connection with. Only to find that Lazard was like the rest of them in the last chapter. Truly, and simply tragic. And then, to realize that Rufus acknowledged Lazard as his brother was heart breaking seeing as he still misses him and subconsciously needed him as he heard the sound of wings at one of his weakest moments. I'm impressed by your writing skills, they are outstanding as it shows in this particular work. I would love to see you continue with this idea, perhaps a sequel to this story but to be honest, I cannot even imagine a sequel and what you could possibly write. Perhaps a reunion when the brothers meet in the Promised Land? Rufus confessing his feelings to Tseng about Lazard and what he knew? Or maybe, nothing at all...

I'm sorry about this long review, but this story definitely deserves it. I was well written and remarkably creative. I hope you continue to experiment the relationship of Rufus and Lazard in the future as I have seen you are the best author to do so due to your characterization of them. Fair well, and I wish you much luck in the future for your other stories.

It's beautiful. I should not have mentioned about the game. You made this story a whole, with its meaning and value. Their relation, feeling and emotions are depicted so well. The seagull scene, at the beginning and the ending, is very beautiful.

Beautifully written. I appreciate your insight into their relation and the Shinra operation. Lazard was always Rufus' mentor. But your older-than-in-the-game Rufus made him even stupider in game. If that he announced his ruling theory to his enemy is pure stupidness, I can consider he was young, so a little naive, and then too excited being the brand new president. But if having such a mentor, and being older and more introspective, this Rufus did not fit into the game. But of course, even Advent Children itself twisted the characters somewhat.

Anyway, your Lazard is very well written. About his cruelness, I think none of the political leaders is completely innocent, especially the martial ones. Of course, we still prefer the not so bad ones, and I think he was far from the worst.

There will be 6 chapters to this story then, huh?

And don't worry, even if you've written the story without that much attention, this is and will always be a great work.

Oh, and I loved Lazard's last sentence to Rufus. *_*

I think maybe Rufus was a little too meek here, especially talking about his father. But considering Veld's part, the story is kind of AU, isn't it?

Rufus attained more experience then, but Lazard still acted like his mentor.
