Very, Very nice use of the Penanggalan, mostly likely THE MOST creepy and disgusting Vampire anyone ever came up with! Pretty dang obscure kind of vamp as well, i've only ever come across them in GURPS Vampires. I also like the date given for Asuna's birth (even though i prefer to think of her as about a hundred years older). Another good part is how Hiro defeated the Penanggalan.

Erm, would Konoka be "pushing her away" because of what she walked in on last chapter? I'm still hoping Konoka breaks up with Shirai and Setsuna accepts herself and realises she doesn't really care about her "duty to the Shinmeryu" and protects Konoka because she *wants* to (and perhaps that Konoka would like to protect her in turn). I'd feel a little sorry for him but at the same time... isn't it worse to lead him on if she doesn't hold those feelings for him (also it might be partially because I honestly don't care about him- though I swear I meant it about leading on!- and Setsuna and Konoka kind of deserve it after everything)? It's fairly obvious that Setsuna's in love with Kono-chan even in this, but there's only vague hints of Konoka's emotions (it occurs to me you might have done this on purpose) so far, even without that. However, the actual emotions hinted at implies that she wants Setsuna and is settling for Shirai for reasons like he doesn't treat her as someone above her... Unlike a certain someone- and the fact that, right now, Setsuna isn't ready. Of course this is all speculation and all I can do is hope. ...That honestly turned out to be longer than I intended or wanted to.

As for the actual story, well, normally I'm not terribly fond of OCs, but you've fleshed them out pretty well and this is really good so far. You know the saddest part of that ending though? It's exactly like her to not fight back against something like that if Konoka were to wish it, even if she should have. I don't blame Asuna for being flabbergasted however... Eva yelling "Nagi" at Phillip though... Geez.

Interesting to see some development with Tamaki. Poor dragon-kin's been stuck with bad owners and even worse luck, seeing her find some power improvements warms my heart.

Another good chapter, I like how Rallentando's meeting with the Headmaster went and the old man's question about having a girlfriend as well as Konoka's great response to Rallentando's question about Asuna afterwards. Another good part is Asuna's conversation with Markham and her thoughts on her future. I also like how Asuna was introduced to the Marquis Rallentando and the noblemans spat with Ayaka overstatus. Yet another good part is Markham conversation with Chamo.

That said I'm suprised Ayaka didn't have a stronger reaction to learning of Asuna's former identity, maybe she thinks Rallentando is mistaken about who Asuna is?

Suggestions: Ayaka demands a full explination from Asuna about the Redhead being a princess, Ayaka puts together Asuna's staff with out consulting Asuna and recruits mostly members of Ala Alba, The rumore mill quickly turns the Marquis Rallentando visit into a Asuna being secretly engaged to a prince or a Prince (Rallentando) propseing to Asuna,
