I always like seeing Rodney through others, and realizing how brilliant he is!

All I can say is aw. I love the description of Sam and Jack's interaction. It was beautiful. The POV was interesting too. I might like to learn more about the speaker. You might be able to expand this into a larger story. Though the conclusion was very strong.
