Lil-lo chapter 1 . 5/24/2010 I can appreciate Jiraya being the basis for Gai's out there tendencies because it's so heart-warming...and it makes me a little less afraid of Gai in the long run (though he does still occasionally mentally scar me) |
redqueen76 chapter 1 . 3/21/2010 I really enjoyed this. I like how you have Jiraiya as the inspiration for all of Guy's flowery speech and grand proclamations, without making it strictly a Jiraiya thing instead of a Guy thing, if that makes any sense. I look forward to reading your kakairu_fest submission. And True Colors is definitely an apt enough song for this scenario. |
Little Kunai chapter 1 . 3/20/2010 aha! so Jiraiya is to blame for Gai and Lee's flowery speeches! mwahahaha! actually it was excellent advice that he gave Gai and an interesting view on why Gai doesn't rely on his chakra as much. thank you for this great little short. it was very good. |
Orodruin chapter 1 . 3/20/2010 Great story. It's an interesting, unique look at how Guy came to be the way he is, and an original flair in making Jiraiya so involved. Although, really, some of the Green Beast's dramatic lines do sound as though they could come straight out of Icha Icha... This would go a long way in giving Guy a good, personal reason for the great respect he seems to hold Jiraiya to in canon... not that the Senin isn't respectable in his own rights... |
Writing bunny chapter 1 . 3/20/2010 An interesting idea. Parts of Jiraiya speech felt out of character, but then he is a writer and probably uses flowery language. Keep up the good work. |
Wheelwright chapter 1 . 3/20/2010 Good morning! Now, that was interesting! You handled characters in a way that is unusual. Gai not as a foil for Kakashi - and not obsessed with him -, but fascinated by Minato. Wow, great idea. It does explain his flashiness to some extend. And then Jiraiya giving him some sound advice and at the same time not knowing what he is going to spawn there... I liked the jibe at platitudes and that nobody talked like this, since his own novels are commonly seen as not exactly high quality literature - and I'm not talking about the subject matter here... Did I get this right? This is only a part of a longer story we might never get to read on ff.n? Or are you going to submit the KakaIru story here later on? Wheelwright |
