Thank you for this story. I really liked the flow and theme if it. Your storytelling is very similar to the anime. My only critique on it is that i felt like the ending was rushed. It probably would’ve been better to divide the last chapter in 2 parts. I just think a little bit more story was needed to be told between Kenshin and Kaoru. All in all great story.

Thanks for the story, I really enjoyed it! I liked the changes you made for the AU premise, putting all the characters in Bakumatsu era, but staying close and true to their original stories, like with Megumi still making opium for Kanryu and Yahiko pickpocketing in the beginning. It was nice to see Aoshi as a capable leader that cares about his subordinates, even after the loss of his old comrades. I also enjoyed your take on the Battousai side of Kenshin, which I feel was pretty spot on.

Kaoru was the heart of the story and I loved what you did with her, especially on the fighting side. Her fight with Soujiro and then destroying Shishio's sword were cool and badass moments. I'm still wondering who killed Kaoru's father, even though it doesn't matter to the story, it's just my curiosity. Btw, I love the idea of Soujiro staying with Kaoru and becoming her student, it just seems like a suitable and positive development for his character.

For a while, I’ve been binging on your story and it’s just so amazing! One thing that bugs me with these types of fics though, not necessarily bad, is that Kaoru is so powered up with girl power and other training that now she is basically the ultimate strong swordsman-sorry, swordswoman and she does nothing wrong that isn’t seen as exclusive to her and makes her more endearing. Because a battle hardened samurai will fight and think “wow she’s pretty” and already lose the fight. I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t underestimate her and honestly, this is why I like Kenshin older than her.

I LOVED this! I ended up reading "Hood" first, and I like this one even better! This is definitely the best "Battousai"/Kaoru interaction one I've ever read. :] It was a nice fresh take on a lot of the characters, and I loved all your innovations with the plot, while keeping everyone true to form.

I always love reading their encounters! It's nice how you integrated some of the canon events into your story. It's shaping up really well!
