Very Nice Story. It actually shows that Spock already has a wonderful understanding of the unique differences between Pike and Kirk, what they each need in such severe circumstances. It was also a great way to show that, only after 1 year of service, while Spock displayed full loyalty to Pike, he was also commirred to Serving under Kirk and had established significant loyalty to him. You story also did a good job of showing Kirk's depth of character, his ability to get past just feeling betrayed, being able to understand why Spock did what he did, and that he could still value Spock and want to move on, as a team! Very enjoyable!

Thank you for this! I just recently watched these episodes for the first time, and it really bothered me to see the Captain and Spock at odds, especially in that moment at the end of the first episode. This ficlet is the perfect resolution that I wish it had had. Also, I really like your fics in general. You portray the friendship between the Captain, Spock, and Bones so beautifully that I can't help grinning away like a lunatic as I'm reading them.

I loved this fic! Its so difficult to find TOS fics that characterize kirk and spock correctly and keep them in character the whole time and you do an excellent job. Thank you for writing this, its really great!

As episode tags go, this is by far the best one I have read so far, especially in this particular instance.
You address here all the important issues that are essential in the relationship and further trust betwen Kirk and Spock. You write them both true to the spirit of the show and we could picture this as an additional scene to be seen on screen.
