Dear Sam! You give a great sense of what a commitment and adjustment it is to enter fully into his 1974 life.

And may I say that Annie is not the only one who is thrilled to see him leave that bedsit. Talk about depressing.

Getting back to the story, there really can't be too many Sam and Annie fics.

This is lovely and I completely agree with you that there aren't nearly enough Sam/Annie fics ( It's very well written and believable too. I'd be interested in seeing how the asking Annie to move in with him goes (hint, hint) D

I'm writing this review, Philippa, after a little celebratary dance - a Sam and Annie Fic! You're absolutely right - there aren't enough Sam/Annie Fics out there, but I must admit that this is a fine example.

This is a lovely one shot from Sam's pespective, Philippa. It's exactly how I imagined Sam and Annie's relationship to be like following the end of 'Life on Mars' - slow and romantic - and was entirely believable, from Annie's old fashioned ideas to Sam's frustration at the past.

Also, the guilt that Sam feels at leaving his mother behind was a good touch, and one that highlights how perhaps his story isn't quite so much of a happy-ever-after as the end of 'Life on Mars' suggested.

That was really sweet and well written. I haven't read a new LoM fic in a while. I think you are so right these two deserve some more coverage. Another chapter? :)

Lovely. You can just feel the early-morning tranquility. I like how you've highlighted a few important things, namely that Sam didn't have anything to stay in the future for-he left his mother behind, even though she seemed to understand what he needed to do at some level, and that's got to prey on his mind a little. Also the fact that he's going to have to keep his knowledge of the future to himeslf for the rest of his life. Even if he settles in for good, there's no hiding the fact that he's still out of his time.

I love the little frustrations you've given him, too. Air travel more of a luxury, and the rules of romance not quite the same. In some ways, he probably wishes he could bring Annie to the future with him, but you just know she wouldn't quite belong there.

A sweet little story all the way around. Nice work.
