Gemabean chapter 10 . 7/15 Bella done slipped up. That’s Mr Mason Bella! He’s not a Cullen yet! |
I'm A Sucker For Love Stories chapter 37 . 6/16 I have really loved this story - getting to know Bella and Edward in another setting, your characters were all very well described and it was obvious that you did a lot of research into what Chicago was like in 1918 and what was there. I'm glad Bella got to find out what happened to her friends from 1918 but there's still the mystery of her original wedding ring - I hope you will do a one-shot for this some time in the future! All in all, I loved it - and I look forward to reading another of your stories soon! |
Catulla chapter 37 . 6/1 Oops, don't mind my other review. I clearly misread your profile page. Anyway, love this story so much! And it has such resonance now during the coronavirus pandemic. |
Catulla chapter 38 . 6/1 This is a fantastic story. I just binged it over the weekend! So sad it looks like you’ve purged all your fanfics from here. Guess I’ll go read your original works! |
Elise731 chapter 38 . 5/26 You are an incredible storyteller and a gifted writer. I laughed, I cried happy and sad tears, and I marveled at your ability to weave together such a clever narrative. Thank you for sharing this with us. |
Pachuu85 chapter 38 . 5/24 2020 y sigue siendo de mis historias favoritas. Me llore todo! Gracias por crear esta versión de Bella y Edward de 1918 |
PatSoxFan16 chapter 1 . 5/18 The absolute best fanfic I have ever read. I always this story as my all time favorite! |
InkprintsandPavement chapter 38 . 5/4 I remember reading the first several chapters of this story when you were actively working on it, and liking both the premise and your writing style. (I soon gave up reading WIPs, because I'm a binge reader at heart, and complete fics are for me.) ...so, now - many years later - I stumbled across this again, and I absolutely love it. Your characterizations, the storyline, all lovely. Stories that truly make me FEEL as though I'm invested are not easy to find, and this is certainly one of them. Full of heart pangs, mental fist pupmps, and multiple burst of REAL, out-loud laughter - I frikkin' love it. I can say without a doubt, as much as I love all the characters (canon and OCs), this is by FAR one of my absolute most favorite Carlisle fics. I am BEYOND thrilled that we got a Carlisle epilogue. Truly, truly, I LOVE the Bella/Carlisle friendship you created for us. Thank you for sharing this story with us! |
Lady Moon Shadows chapter 12 . 4/13 Rereading this for the umpteenth time. It still cracks me up to read how poorly Edward plays the piano. I know he explained in the past that he was so well played because he had lots of time to practice as a vamp. But as a human.. hes just a 16year old boy who hasn't mastered it yet. |
rabid behemoth chapter 38 . 4/3 I have a confession to make: I had an absurdly, unfairly specific reason for picking up this fic. Call it morbid curiosity, desperation to relate, or a little of both, but in the midst of the current coronavirus pandemic I found that watching documentaries on the Spanish flu was not enough. I wanted to live it, be immersed in the way that only fanfiction enables. I came to this fic with that single-minded, selfish and specific desire in mind, and I am ***blown away by how much this fic overdelivers***. Your human Edward, in so many ways, improves upon the original. Ditto for Carlisle, who gets a chance to breathe, to be fleshed out here in ways that could never have imagined in canon. I adored not only the characters and the realistic slow burn (and appropriately culture clash-y!) relationship between Bella and Edward, but the broader questions introduced and satisfyingly resolved by this story. Big questions of free will vs destiny, what we owe to others in our lives... These are the real issues that drive this fic. Your amazing research on the period, fun OCs, and seamless integration of every single bit into the Twilight canon are all icing the cake. This was also one of the smartest time travel stories I've had the pleasure of encountering. I can't imagine how hard you must have worked to make sure everything was logically consistent, that the past lined up with the present, and that the "rules" of time travel were evenly applied and reasonable. For what it's worth, I've long believed that the "it's impossible to really change the past" school of thought is the most coherent approach to time travel fiction, but it *especially* works here because of how much effort you put into tying fate, destiny, and doubt into the theme. Amazing work! And the zillions of Easter eggs we get at the end when we realize Carlisle knew all along (scrapbooking! The justification was there from the beginning!) were so immensely rewarding when the threads all came together. Speaking of Carlisle-I never ever ever saw myself shipping him with Bella, but I think I'm stuck for life after this. I am absolutely, fully converted. His feelings were handled with such grace and maturity as well in the second epilogue-I was so relieved to see the gravity of them fully acknowledged instead of swept under the rug for the sake plot convenience. To have that followed up with a satisfying and realistic, if not entirely painless, resolution of them was far more than I could have asked for. This fic was way way way more than I asked for, and much more than I deserve. Thank you so much! I will appreciate this one forever, I expect. (And if you have any Belisle fic recs, I can offer you my soul in exchange, should you want such a thing! :)) |
Michmaci chapter 38 . 3/24 Reread this wonderful story which resonates perfectly with current events in these unprecedented days. It was such a joy to lose myself in 1918, so many changes and yet things aren't really all that different. The dialogue between Carlisle and Bella is just brilliant, thank you! |
CatalinaE chapter 38 . 3/17 I know the story is from years ago, but I just found it now and I love it, it's romantic and tragic and exciting till the end. Thanks for this amazing story! |
BakaMondai chapter 1 . 2/28 I almost want this to be a bellaCarlisle fanfiction |
Sassyvampmama chapter 38 . 2/13 Wow. I couldn't stop reading this. Thanks for sharing it with us. |
LanaDelCullen chapter 36 . 1/22 Wow wow wow, I’m seriously blown away by this story. I can’t even imagine how much time it took to write and research everything for the story. You wrote a fantastic Bella. She was so brave and smart. And so nice to get to know the human side of Edward. It was hilarious that they didn’t hit it off right away xD. There were so many funny parts throughout the story, the elk blood and Carlisle’s reaction the best one! God I laughed so hard. some chapters were scary (James) or difficult (Edward getting sick) to read. I’ve been reading fanfiction for quite a while and I remember this story popping up in peoples favorites after every update. Somehow the summary didn’t make me curious enough to start reading. I’m happy that after all these years it’s still up here because it would have been a shame if I’d missed out on this gem. This is one of these stories that one will always remember! It’s perfect, nothing less. All the best to you and thank you for keeping it online! |
