This was a nice slice of life story with a bunch of nods to actual history and the troubles that immigrants had to live through when finally arriving at America's shores. It was nicely written and characterized. Not many people talk about this, but I absolutely adore the relationship between Romano and America because at their core, they really are hard workers and they strive to do what's best. However, there re a few stark differences that you conveyed through your writing.

Anyway, some of the one-liners were absolutely hilarious and I love how Romano is just so sweet and tender, and then he threatened the groom, hahahah!

But what I truly about this piece is the nature of the Nations. Especially that one line where Romano says that the people America has isn't truly his. That's a line that just made me really think about how American is a different breed than the nations; he's young, he's reckless, he's new, but he wants to be something more and he strives to be the best so that everyone can be at their best. It's heartwarming to see that their relationship, while more of roommates in this fic, can have vibes of a mentor, or of an older sibling trying to tell their junior that life isn't just smelling the roses.

At least, that's the impression I got from the fic.

Overall, this was a great read! From the setting to the characters and the wonderful lines throughout, I can hereby say, that without a doubt, this is one of my favorite stories about Romano.

I'm so glad I found this fanfic here. I remember it from the days of LJ and it still remains one of the funniest things I have ever read. I have yet to watch Mambo Italiano but remember the Sicilian line from this fic. Bless.

I really liked this. Kind of slice-of-life-y, kind of not. XD It's nice to see Romano doing something other than swearing. There is something infinitely cool about Mafia!Romano, it has to be said. I liked America's bubbly nature contrasting against Romano's grumpy one, and the wedding scene was just priceless, with all the older ladies very interested in America...reading about Romano cooking made me hungry.

Really really love their characterization and their interaction. The opening is enough to send me laughing, then the wedding and Romano's threat, then the last one,
"Jesus Christ!"

This fic is hilarious, but at the same time it's really deep and heartwarming. I love to see America and Romano's friendship. Romano seems to be teaching America few things indirectly and America seems to be able to make his Italian friend's days lighter. :)

I liked this piece. The wedding really made me smile because Romano really would do something underhanded like that. Made me sad to think of the ghettos though because it really is true on both accounts. I'm Asian and I know if one Asian family lives in an area, others tend to migrate there while everyone else starts to move out.
