I reviewed this story under my old penname of Rhyselle when you posted it in 2010. And I'm ashamed that it took this long to come back and re-read it. But then, again, I've not been much on FFN since my muse has been silent for quite a while. I'm glad I found it again today.

In any case, I really wanted to say how impressed I still am with this story. I loved seeing Denethor as father as well as Steward. Of course, you got Boromir's reaction to his experiences in battle as Captain General just perfect. I frequently wonder, if he had survived the Ring War and could live at peace, if he would have ultimately suffered from PTSD, much as my friends and relations who have been involved in the current and recent conflicts are suffering now. It is one of the best of your writings that I've had the pleasure to enjoy.

I do hope that the last year or two have been good to you, and that you and your family are doing well. I do have to say that I miss being able to read your older stories, especially the ones in "The Royal Visitor" series (Young Estel's and Thranduil's relationship in them just totally captured my heart!), the other Twiglet tales, and your wonderful Sharpe's Rifles and LOTR crossovers, but I do understand that an author's priorities do change, and I will not badger you about sharing them here again. I have the memories of the stories, if not the actual words in them, and I will always be grateful to you for sharing what you have written over the years.

I have to say, this is quite possibly the most beautiful story I've ever read on this site. I think it captures perfectly what both Boromir and Denethor would be like and tells of a major point in both of their lives. Thank you for writing this.

This was interesting. I love fics about Boromir or Faramir. I've also heard good things about "Behind Closed Doors" and its sequels. Is there anywhere I can still read them?

Hi, today - after maybe three or four years - I came back to and when I wanted to re-read some of your wonderful stories, I found out that they are gone! Is there any chance to find them anywhere? I loved them - especially "your" Faramir, he was great character. It would be kinda sad not to have chance to read them again...

I love reading your stories of the Hurin's before the time of the films. The films showed Denethor to be so cold and ruthless, even in the extended editions. Yet how could someone like that have raised such sons as Boromir and Faramir? That is why I love reading your work - because it's a constant reminder of the true nature of my favourite Middle-Earth family. Perhaps it's almost a good thing Boromir didn't see what his father became.

Anyway, thank you for this story, and I apologise for not reviewing your work more often (many have been on my favourites list for a while).

This was a really good story. I loved Boromir and Denethor's interaction. You include the little things, like the fact that taking off armor can be painful.

I was also wondering where some of your other stories like Fugitive are? Have you got them on a website?

Oh! I come looking for your stories to re-read "The House of Telcontar" and prequels, and it's gone! What happened? I had enjoyed them so much; they were such wonderful stories... would it be possible for me to get a copy from you?

As for this story in particular, I loved it. I don't know how you do it, but you capture the essence of the characters so well!
