Uhura the 9th chapter 30 . 5/11/2018 It's too bad uhura didn't have backbone, Spock and Uhura should've bonded along time ago, but it was a good plot, loved Sa''aat great character, |
whirlingskirts chapter 30 . 2/4/2018 I had forgotten how much I liked this story when I read it last year. Thank you for this! |
whirlingskirts chapter 18 . 6/14/2017 I knew his mother was in him somehow. |
whirlingskirts chapter 10 . 6/13/2017 This is fascinating. It's different from any Trek story I've read until now. In TOS there was a feeling of camaraderie among the officers. I feel that camaraderie here as Spock's friends and family rally to his aid. Thank you for this nuanced story. Even as I fear a meltdown, I'm hopeful that the support system will sustain him. Yeah, I'm really caring about this fictional character! |
whirlingskirts chapter 1 . 6/12/2017 OMG! "Am I awake?" This is frightening. I'm almost afraid to read on because, with these words, you've skillfully revealed that the nightmares evidence deep psychological damage - deeper than the physical injuries he sustained - and those were pretty bad. I am physically uncomfortable right now. |
PLwrite chapter 3 . 10/31/2015 There are interesting ideas here, and in your prior story, about the breakdown of social order and morality in the face of disaster. I am looking forward to seeing your exploration of the psychological trauma and healing of this gross violation. Now, one thing that is provoking and has pushed me right to the edge of not continuing to read - the idea that what happened to Spock -and any other Vulcan who didn't voluntarily submit -isn't rape. You have set up, with every character, a distinct dichotomy between what the male attacker did to him and what the female's did. This wouldn't bother me if it was a single character's opinion, but so far, every character of yours that knows of it seems to hold this view. Sa'aat kills Semuk but not T'Pau; Kirk and McCoy are disturbed that another female assaulted Spock but not horrified about rape until a male is involved; NONE of all who know what happened to Spock have reacted like it was a sexual assault; and in the first paragraphs of this story you've said that many human males might not have a problem with what happened. This all leads me to believe that this attitude isn't your character's but your's and makes me wary to continue reading. I don't think there is any way to look at what happened to Spock as anything other than rape. He said no, he was drugged, and forced to copulate. If the same had happened to Uhura, if she had been given a drug against her will which rendered her unable to resist, that removed her inhibitions and her reason, and made her lust filled. If then a series of men had been presented to her and she had had sex with them, would we anyone then later think that wasn't rape? Or that if it was later discovered that in fact a female had also engaged her thus while she was nearly unconscious that THAT instance was somehow terribly different? Or is it not rape on the one had because it was state sanctioned, and the other acts are somehow more personal? I will continue to read and hope for better things for the characters. Finally, I will admit that I think this bothers me so much because one of the reasons I enjoy ST is that it presents a hopeful view of the future, general enlightened, egalitarian, respectful, and cooperative society. |
tanseynz chapter 30 . 6/29/2015 A very powerful pair of stories. I truly love your inventiveness throughout - you enriched Vulcan society immensely. |
jettiestar chapter 19 . 5/22/2015 6 you jin. |

aalegalzinha chapter 30 . 9/23/2013 I know I am really late here, but I just have to review this wonderfull story. It is one of the best stories I have ever read. I am so deeply in love with Dr. Surrey. I never liked OCs before as much as I liked the ones you created. Sa'aat will always have a special place in my heart now... In the begining I didn't like him because of the way he treated Nyota, but now I just love him! and Dr. Surrey, OMG, I never wished so hard for a character to be real. I would love to seat and talk to him for hours. Nyota is the queen of my heart, really. You wrote her in a way that made me love her even more than I thought was possible (or healthy). She is really a strong woman, and if I was in her place I would never be able to be like that. I think I would just cry and scream all the time LOL, I would need a great friend like Christine ( I loved her!) to knock some sense into my head :D The relationship between Spock and Uhura is so deep and so beautiful... such a delight to read. To see them going through all of these trials and coming out of it all stronger, wiser and above all together... it was just so amazing I can't even find words to describe how much I loved them in this story. I think I will never be able to read another S/U fanfic again without feeling something is lacking... just because this story is just pefect. Thank you for giving all of us this wonderfull story. Live long and prosper Spock & Uhura! Peace and long life to you! |
xshadowxkissesx chapter 30 . 9/12/2013 Perfect ending :') Great story! |
icemink chapter 30 . 7/23/2013 I just wanted to tell you how much I loved this story. I came across it because of a recommendation and loved reading it. Your original characters were as vibrant as the regular cast, and I love how you wove everything together. |
laurmott chapter 29 . 8/3/2012 Also, I have to add after all these other reviews: Sa'aat and his tenuous relationship with Spock were my favorite thing. I love Nyota, but honestly Sa'aat got me in his side here. Great job, again. Scars are sexy, metaphorically or otherwise. X) |
laurmott chapter 30 . 8/3/2012 I've read both of your stories through a few times now. I have to say, they are both brilliant. :) I very much appreciate your characterization and intriguing OC's. If you ever do continue in this 'verse, I would be very excited. |
