It's been a few years since you wrote this... But I'll review it anyway since it's a study of one of my favorite characters xD
I think it's sad that so many people either don't know he's a transwoman or just ignore the obvious signs. You made a great character study and brought up a valid reason to why he would surround himself in red. One thing I think of is why he helped Madam Red was because she too was incapable of having a child :') I think he may even have loved her in his own way. It's too bad he killed her.. x')

What an interesting way to look at the story of Grell. It is possible that he might have harbored the same bitterness that Madam Red had towards those who gave up the gift that she desired. I applaud you, writer. Well done.
