Well, and well, and well again. I KNEW there was a good reason I could get nowhere on my Clover Proudfoot stories, and this is it. You, m'dear, have already written a far, far better take on the healer-herbmistress OC Frodo romance than I could ever hope to accomplish. Lily is just wonderful, everything I wanted Clover to be. Funny how synchronicity works 'mongst writers, isn't it?

I hope this doesn't sound snotty or like I am accusing you of anything, for I most certainly am not. For one thing, this came first (and I'm amazed and ashamed I didn't see this long before now), and for another, Clover will not cease to be, she'll simply be reworked somewhat, into more a friend and cousin and less of a romantic potential. I should thank you for removing a block, for now I think I'll be able to move on with a story so long stalled, I'd thought it dead before I could finish it.

Oh, dear, this has turned into something of a pitch-cum-self-reassurance, and I don't mean it to be. This is a wonderful start to what I am sure will be a wonderful fic. Every character is nicely written, well concieved and kept in character. Your OC's fame is believable, and your portrayal of her herblore completely believable. And now I will go read more.

Good! Good! I love this! You have given Frodo I love interest (to put in blunt story terms what should never be) and yet you aren't trying to keep him in the Shire like most people do. Nothing against those that change Tolkien's ending (one of my favorite stories is like that). It is just refreshing, and I really, REALLY want to know what happens next.

::sigh:: Very pretty. I would read to the last chapter you put up, but I have to leave my computer and go out of the house (shocking!). I want you to know that for your the very little imagery you use, it still feels as though I was there in the story. When I finally turned my head awya from the computer, it felt as though I was leaving an entire world behind! Very good writing!

Oh ... wow. I really can't think of a review to do this story justice. It's wonderfully written, Frodo's perfectly in character, all the other hobbits are satisfyingly hobbit-ish, everyone talks *correctly* ... And I'm most happy about the way you haven't changed the end result, that the Ring *did* harm Frodo deeply and he *has* to leave ... Anyway, I think what I'm trying to say is that I love this story. A lot.

Wow. This is just...wow. So beautifully written. So bittersweet. So much more satisfying than Prof. Tolkien's detached treatment of Frodo after the Ring was destroyed.

*sigh* I'm glad she understood, I have a weird feeling that the scene of their final good-bye will break my heart...
