But...but... What happened to the dog?! I really liked your take on both Veronica and Logan really working toward a mature relationship. Good job!

Guest chapter 16 . 7/1/2017
Why wouldnt Logan just go to Palo Alto with her? What does he have in Neptune? Being away from Neptune together would be way better for them

Laetitia chapter 15 . 3/5/2015
Superb story, I really like it!

I love the way you made Veronica changes, realizes some things she did and how that affected her life and other.

And how Logan and V rebuild their friendship at first (what is very necessary) and then their relationship. Excellent characterization of them both, the teasing, the bonding, the chemistry, we feel it all.

Now, I hope you will write the sequel and finish this great story! Thanks for sharing with us and sorry for my English.

Helen Palsgraf chapter 5 . 2/24/2015
In re. comment about statute of limitations: I figure we're already suspending disbelief with the entire custody storyline of Duncan and his daughter, what's a little criminal law embellishment?

I can't speak specifically about California, but in most jurisdictions it would be highly unlikely for a court to grant the maternal grandparents permanent custody of a child over the biological father, even a teenage father, without a finding that the father is unfit, due to dependency, neglect or abuse, which in Duncan's case, the facts do not appear to support. If they did, however, the paternal grandparents might also be the preferred choice for the court if it intends to continue to foster the relationship between child and father, preferable unless unable due to a safety concern for the child.

Duncan certainly has the resources to provide for his child and, as far as we know, he does not have a history of neglecting or abusing children. Couple that with the power and resources of the Kane family and it is extremely unlikely for Duncan to be in the situation where he has to violate a court order to keep his daughter. What's more likely is the court granting visitation to the maternal grandparents, provided California law permits it. (Not every jurisdiction recognizes grandparents' rights.) Regardless, they wouldn't have standing to seek custody as a biological parent or de facto custodian would.

I think it's even less likely is that the FBI would show interest in a case that isn't actually kidnapping by its statutory definition, but rather custodial interference, although it's more likely if it happens to be between two high-profile families. Depending on the charge, whether state or federal, the statute of limitations may have expired by the time he returns, or the charge reduced anyway. I imagine, regardless, Duncan has access to legal counsel who can advise him of his rights.

Thanks for reading, everyone, and for thoughtful criticism! I'm glad to bring the characters back out to play.

Pretty sure there is no statute of limitations on kidnapping. 18 or not, DUncan would still go to prison for what he did
