My brother also spent time in Germany many years after D-Day...he dated a German girl who told him how it was during the occupation; said one couldn't trust ones own family for fear of being 'falsely outted' , just hoping to deflect any attention

My dad was in France during the 'occupation'. He never spoke about his stint but I read everything I could to better understand the news during that atrocious time! I was thinking that surely what the IS is doing to it's own people today has never seen such on this earth...but your story reminds me that evil rises periodically to wake up complacency and stirs outrage...
