You are so good at writing Sam and Dean. This is a lyrical story. I hope you decide to write SPN again. I haven't conquered LJ yet but I am still trying so I hope to find you there.

Wow, this was amazing. Powerful! It's especially poignant in light of recent events, as in the end of Season 8 and beginning of Season 9. I love Dean, and I understand that he's compelled, always, to save Sam, but here again we've got Sam wanting redemption, willing to sacrifice so much for it (although he didn't expect to die in the more recent case), and kind of yanked back from that redemption...again.

Sam did redeem himself in the end.

This just gets to me, Sam's desolution and what's so sad is that he's right. His choices never seem to make a difference for him. You got right to the heart of the matter beautifully with this.

I'm still on season 2 of the show, but I couldn't resist taking a peak at this, and let me tell you, I was BLOWN AWAY! What episode was this a tag to?

Awe! Sam! It's such a sad fate that his life just won't come together. This really hits the proverbial nail on the head. Loved the near-death scene. Sometimes I wonder how things might have turned out had Sam agreed to aid Lilith.

Oh, thank you so much for this. I literally had no love left for Sam or the show. None. At all. And that hurt more than I can say. And then I read this, and I...felt for Sam again. It's a rare occurance, these days. In any case, I really love this. "Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't: Sam wonders if free will is only for those who aren't already forsaken."
