Guest chapter 11 . 5/10 Just found this...it is so sadly beautiful. I have cried and cried. But the way you wrote the ending was so peaceful for everyone involved. This is a sad but beautiful with forgiveness and love. Christine is at peace now with Erik. They can watch over Raoul and Charles. |
Trinity Destler chapter 11 . 7/16/2018 You did it so perfectly. It's taken me years to gather the courage to read this and I'm glad I did even though I'm a weeping devastated mess, because you did it absolutely perfectly and this epilogue does help. It was necessary. This is one of only two fics I've ever read that has affected me like actual Phantom always does. You captured them. |
Trinity Destler chapter 4 . 7/16/2018 Oh God, oh God, I can't read this, it's too good. I started sobbing in chapter 2 and haven't stopped. |
Luca chapter 11 . 2/10/2018 God, you madre this sad! Madre me cry! |
Kayleem127 chapter 11 . 4/2/2017 Beautiful... I bawled my eyes out. Wasn't the smartest thing to do - reading this when it's that time of the month, lol. Either way, it was quite fantastic. I thank you for filling in the "missing" pieces. |
Violonaire chapter 11 . 1/9/2017 I still didn't read Kay's Phantom but again, this romance story is well written! |
MaJuLiSaMi chapter 11 . 6/19/2015 Whoa... What a story. Heartbreaking, painful, gutwrenching- but that was to be expected. I know the book, I know the ending, I knew I would cry and I did. But that is a compliment to you- your story got to me, you wrote these final scenes so touching and intense and in-character that there was no way for me not to feel and suffer with your characters! Thank you for sharing these beautiful and well written fill-in-scenes, you are truely talented! |
emeraldphan chapter 11 . 2/14/2015 This was absolutely beautiful. Erik's line about the carriage coming to take them to the Bois moved me to tears, just like it did when I read it first. A very moving and bittersweet story, and the ending was perfect. Thank you. |
emeraldphan chapter 4 . 2/11/2015 I read this lovely story ages ago but I can't believe I didn't leave a review! You have such a beautiful writing style and it really does feel as though I'm reading the Kay novel. You've captured Erik so well, with his self pity, cynicism and that dark humour. He may be a murderer and a blackmailer but he is very funny! |
vanillalover chapter 10 . 7/14/2014 This is such a beautiful story it really brings some closure to Phantom. I'm literally crying because of how amazing this is. You have truly written something special. And as much as I wish this had a happy ending I cant help but think that it makes sense. Thank you for a wonderful story :) |
Guest chapter 11 . 3/10/2014 This is one of the best stories I have ever read. I will never forget it because it is so beautiful. Thank you for posting this wonderful story. You made my day! |
Nade-Naberrie chapter 11 . 1/27/2012 Um, guess what I decided to re-read tonight, because I'm evidently masochistic and enjoy huddling in a corner at work at god knows what hour, seriously crying at this story AGAIN. Damn it. I keep forgetting how good you are, and then I read something of yours and I'm always like "HOLY SHIT." What even, gah. Ok, so two things. One, I'm stealing one of your lines for Benediction. Two, I will not only take over baby duty, but PAY YOU to write something. TBM preferably, but, I mean, I'd also kill for the Persian monkey all up in Raoul's life story. So. Just warning you. K? K. |
nightingales-rose chapter 11 . 1/20/2012 WOW! This is the only fanfiction that has ever made me cry this much . . . I cannot tell you how wonderful this was! Every line was perfected to deliver the strongest emotional effect. Susan Kay's "Phantom" is by far my favorite book (hence my username), and whenever I think of "Erik" it is always Kay's Erik that comes to mind; this story was just as well-written and could have easily been a part of that book. I had actually been ready to sit down and write a story almost exactly like this (including being completely about Erik and Christine's last day together, except for the last chapter taking place with Christine's death), but I could have never written with such emotional strength! Wonderful job; I'm really looking forward to reading more! |
my-echo chapter 11 . 7/15/2011 So beautiful. It very nearly brought me to tears. And I definitely think it's very much keeping with the spirit of Kay's book - the writing style and the way the characters speak and think. Those scenes near the end, where Erik and Christine are weaving verbal fantasies about a life together - it just seemed like something they would do, and it was so heartbreaking. I got really choked up, especially at Erik's last words, as he's drifting away in the grip of a particularly beautiful fantasy. And you handled the intimacy between them so tastefully without being prudish. I also loved the epilogue - The imagery and words in the last paragraph in particular were so sweetly evocative. This is just a really well-written, powerfully moving story. |
mistressoflothlorien chapter 11 . 2/28/2011 This story was beautiful! I cried so hard when Eric died. :( Great job! |
