That-Hoopy-Frood chapter 63 . 10/7/2018 I apologize that I’m coming into this fandom a wee bit late. My sibling studies Roman archeology and recommended Trinity Blood to me on account of its unusual take on the Holy Roman Catholic Church. I enjoyed it tremendously, but was rather surprised and saddened to learn of the passing of Trinity Blood’s creator, and subsequently, the incompletion of the story. Naturally, I turned to fan fiction to fill the hole in my aggrieved heart. This story is an astounding achievement. The length is astonishing. Perhaps even more principally remarkable is the cohesiveness of the narrative despite the 700k words it took to tell it. There were few if any contradictions in character or plot, and the story read as one continuous narrative rather than a series of interconnected scenes. It is so, so difficult to do with a longer narrative, especially one spread over the course of four years! I was biased towards approval from the get-go on account of my favorite Trinity Blood pairing, but the characterization of the leads was phenomenal. Esther was strong and capable and smart and empathetic. Abel was compassionate and tragic and complicated and redemptive. Even all the supporters were brilliantly in character. I’ve a stubborn attachment to Petros: he’s such a ham, but I love him, and I’m so grateful you recognized the multidimensionality of his person! Dietrich unnerved me, Cain frightened me, Lilith made me believe in mercy, and Virgil in kindness. And the COSTUMES! The detail that went into the outfits was amazing! Do you do any fashion design? I have to take a forty minute bus ride to and from school every day, and this story was my respite for the last week or so. Thank you for giving this manga a worthy conclusion, and for giving Esther and Abel the happy ending they both deserve. Cheers! |
