   Temple Cloud chapter 1 . 2/17/2019 Sweet story, but would Hermione be that coy? I think I'd either not mention it or just say, 'period', though when I was a teenager and had really bad cramps, I may have used 'headache' as an excuse to explain why I was hitting the ibuprofen (if not why I was sitting against the radiator with a hot-water-bottle against my back). Talking to men about such things - as a teenager, I wouldn't have discussed menstruation when my father or brothers could overhear. As an adult, one of the things that made me realise that my boyfriend (now my husband) was someone I could rely on was that not only could we talk about it, but on one occasion when a period started unexpectedly (while we were out for a walk), soaking my pants and trousers, he didn't freak out, but lent me some of his clothes while we washed and dried mine. After all, if you're going to get intimate enough with someone to go anywhere near the intimacy of sex (not to mention childbirth and caring for babies), you really, really can't afford to be squeamish. |
