Well done, there isn't enough fic exploring the effect upon Gene and the team of losing Sam. This is terribly moving, especially as Alex realises the extent of her dilemma - the beautiful line "He was everything she needed in this world, while her everything sat waiting for her in another" really got me. So did their final promises to one another. Terrific.

This is beautiful, i actually cried in through the middle of this story, when Alex and Gene were talking about Sam!
